Reliable alarming and monitoring of patients is fundamental in today's healthcare system. Televic Healthcare (THC) offers professional communication systems within the care sector for nurse call, patient localization and mobile alarming.
Hospitals and care facilities are under pressure to provide the best quality-of-care while expenditures should be kept under control. At the same time (accelerated by covid crisis), a shortage of staff, especially nurses, puts a lot of pressure on the daily operation of the hospital, their staff and patients. Therefore, care workflows should be optimized to work more efficiently and boost motivation of the staff.
In this thesis, the purpose it to investigate a context-aware communication solution for nurses to handle alerts and tasks. The goal is to optimize alarm responses for the healthcare staff by considering the actual context such as call trigger, location, current activity, profile patient and nurse and route the information (alert/tasks) to the most appropriate caregiver.
During this thesis, you will
- Investigate current practices of how alarms are handled and create requirements how alarm handling can be optimized
- Build accurate context representations from aggregated multi-modal data using knowledge representation methods (such as ontologies) for modelling the different context parameters and their relationships
- Profile stakeholders and realize proactive support delivery
- Implement a Proof-of-Concept
