GSK R&D and Digital & Tech’s collective goal is to deliver impactful results, accelerating the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients. As the key Tech partner, R&D Digital & Tech supports our R&D ambition by supercharging our scientists with data. The Quality Engineering and Labs (QEL) function is pivotal in this mission, managing around 500 systems that support the end-to-end R&D process and all the systems that sit within the Laboratories. The Scientific Data Capture team, within QEL, is focused on delivering solutions which support the Lab Scientist Experience when recording experimental data, managing the complex and diverse metadata which enables scientists to meet regulatory requirements for data capture and facilitating automated consumption of data to drive medicine development.


As the Senior Product Owner Experiment Decision Capture, you will be at the forefront of designing and delivering an innovative roadmap that delivers a laboratory scientist experience of the future. Your mission is to leverage your scientific knowledge and leadership skills to enhance the user experience and produce high quality, standardised and contextualised data that can feed our ambition on using technology, including AI, to optimise our science.

In this dynamic role you will partner with other Product Owners, working collaboratively and adaptively to continuously meet user needs and deliver value to GSK. You will engage at all levels within the organization as well as external Tech and business stakeholders, navigating various business and geographic cultures to provide expert guidance and foster positive interactions. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring the successful delivery of high-value products which shape the future of science and technology integration.

In this role you will
  • Technology Strategy & Innovation: Serve as a trusted advisor with strong domain expertise in areas such as business processes and industry best practices. Stay abreast of industry trends and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Product Roadmap Development: Design and deliver an innovative roadmap for the product, aligning with the broader objectives of the Scientific Data Capture group. Continuously assess and integrate user feedback at an enterprise level to refine and enhance the product.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with lab scientists, senior leaders and other key stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the product meets their requirements. Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Tech, R&D, and external partners.
  • Data FAIRness: Implement strategies to improve the FAIRness (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) of scientific data captured through the product. Ensure compliance with internal and external data standards and regulations.
  • User Experience Enhancement: Focus on improving the user experience for lab scientists, making data capture intuitive, efficient, and effective. Conduct user testing and gather insights to drive user-centric product enhancements.
  • Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept to delivery and ongoing support. Manage timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the product meets the highest standards of quality, security and reliability. Implement robust testing and processes to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders on product performance, milestones, and future plans. Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Adoption Strategy & Change Management: Act as a change agent, supporting both product teams and the business in adopting agile approaches to solution development. Build excitement, momentum, and visible success stories as roadmap plans come to life.

Why you?
Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Life Sciences, Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably within the R&D domain.
  • Strong background in product management, with a focus on user experience and data management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high-value solutions.
  • Proficiency in Agile project management tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of FAIR data principles and regulations governing scientific data.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
  • Experience in managing global projects and virtual teams where members are in multiple countries and time zones.
  • Proven ability to work independently & strong attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for new technologies and problem-solving through logical thought processes.
  • Knowledge of Scientific R&D operating models and processes and/or scientific data capture systems (ELN, LIMS).
  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences
