The Australian Embassy, Brussels are seeking expressions of interest from individuals looking for temporary employment opportunities and wish to be added to a Temporary Employment Register. The Embassy will use this register to draw from to fill temporary work to cover busy periods and staff shortages when required.
About the Temporary Employment Register
The Temporary Employment Register (TER) is open to candidates to submit an expression of interest for temporary, non-ongoing employment at the Australian Embassy, Brussels. The TER enables us to temporarily employ appropriately highly skilled, motivated, and experienced individuals at short notice for short-term (fixed term) contracts.
The successful applicant will be engaged as a locally engaged staff member at The Australian Embassy, Brussels. Please be advised that the Australian Embassy does not provide relocation assistance and any costs associated with taking up the position would be the responsibility of the successful candidate.
Temporary Contracts
Temporary employment opportunities arise from time to time for a number of reasons including:

• Permanent staff members in essential positions take leave;
• During the period prior to filling a vacancy; or
• To manage fluctuations in workloads.

Temporary vacancies are usually filled on a short-term contract basis from those listed on the Australian Embassy’s Temporary Employment Register.
Employment opportunities may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on business needs and requirements.
The Australian Embassy reserves the right to terminate a temporary staff member’s employment at any time.
How to Apply
To be considered for temporary employment, applicants are required to submit a CV and a seperate cover letter including specific qualifications, relevant skills, previous work experience and availability for temporary employment.
If you are offered a temporary position, pre-employment checks including a Police clearance for all countries that you have resided in for over six months in the past five years is required.
Applications are kept on file for 12 months. Your application will be considered when temporary vacancies arise and decisions are based on suitability, availability and/or the possession of a security clearance (if required by the position). Candidates will be directly contacted if their application is under consideration for a vacancy.
Only those with a right to work in Belgium are eligible to apply for the Temporary Employment Register at the Australian Embassy, Brussels. Individuals will be required to present proof of their status before an offer is made.
