Support corporate finance and resource management strategies and major ongoing programmatic initiatives, participating where appropriate using finance and resource management expertise.
-
Analyse and report on key data for financial status and outcomes of projects in accordance with corporate governance requirements, ensuring accuracy, deadlines, and accounting processes are complied with.
-
Monitor and analyse budgets for new and ongoing projects according to established corporate procedures and requirements.
-
Perform bank reconciliations, disbursements, clearance of receivables, overall cash management and monthly financial closures on a regular basis in accordance with corporate requirements.
-
Where necessary, deliver core administrative services, working with contractors and following standard processes to provide cost-effective, quality and timely services to WFP staff.
-
Where necessary, undertake basic human resource functions related to staff benefits, recruitment of local staff, and training.
-
Track and analyse data to identify opportunities for improvements to policies, systems and procedures in order to minimise financial risks, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and ensure services are aligned with business objectives.
-
Deliver financial controls and insight into WFP performance, undertaking periodic risk and internal control assessments to identify areas which may present potential audit, compliance or financial risks.

Lead a team of finance and support services staff, establishing priorities and work plans, monitoring progress, and providing coaching, training and guidance to ensure appropriate development and enable high performance.
-
Represent unit/CO at internal meetings, external meetings and events with other UN agencies, banks and other financial institutions, or other partners and entities as required.
-
Contribute to the development of functional annual plans, recommend longer term improvements to policies, procedures, processes, standards, and systems to mitigate risks and ensure services provided support WFP’s strategic objectives.
-
Maintain partnerships with WFP’s internal and external stakeholders, other UN agencies and government entities to strive for efficiency and optimization of cross-functional processes.
-
Utilise digital tools and applications to their fullest potential, collaborating with technical experts to effectively adopt and adapt innovative technologies, thereby enhancing operational workflows and customer service.

Contribute to the preparation and implementation of UN Reform related inter-agency initiatives to achieve cost savings and enhance service quality.
-
Create and review project budget plans and monitor ongoing project performance against budget, ensuring adherence to guidance and policies, and providing financial analysis and advice to optimize resources and enable informed decisions.

Monitor and provide advice on actions related to project closure and resource transfer.
-
Proactively contribute ideas to senior officers for improvement to systems, techniques, tools, processes, and procedures to better monitor and manage budgets and funds.
-
Support the capacity building of WFP staff in budgeting, fund management and operational planning through answering queries and updating training materials, manuals, and guidelines.
-
Other as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
-
At least five years of postgraduate professional experience in corporate finance, resource management and administration;
-
At least two years experience using SAP enterprise software application or a similar ERP;
-
At least three years of professional experience in financial project management;
-
At least three years of staff management and mentoring;
-
Experience in related areas of the UN System and/or international organizations is considered an advantage;
