Job Description Summary
HR Specialist Payroll and Benefits will be responsible to ensure GE complies to all employment tax and social security regulations such as returns, reports, policy’s implemented, employee’s housing program, security matters .
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
  • Partner with Tax, Legal, Payroll and Finance to ensure streamlined and compliant payroll tax/social security operations based on legislation/regulation
  • Support payroll tax data reviews to meet jurisdictional reporting, withholding and filing/compliance requirements with focus on individual income and social taxes. It includes pro-actively validate that a wide and numerous array of payroll tax calculations, filing and remittance processes have been executed correctly and assist GE to reconcile internally and to the tax authorities that this is the case, as required.
  • Work with strategic business partners including internal (businesses, payroll, legal, HR, Corp Tax), external (tax payroll providers and external advisors), and relevant tax authorities, on matters relating to employment social security.
  • Support with expat process in partnership with our vendor
  • Ensure the quality of employment social security and its cost effectiveness in real time, supporting any social security authority audit, project’s implementation, issues and broader objectives that are within the purview of GE’s local employment social security.
  • In alignment with the Legal and Tax areas and with those responsible for judicial and administrative processes that discuss Payroll taxes, ensure that the issues discussed in these processes are correctly reflected in the Payroll tax parameters.
  • Processes Maps and review process execution with a focus on identifying key risk points and proposing changes;
  • Enable and drive a compliance driven culture through knowledge sharing, training and continuous learning
  • Liaise with audit bodies (internal and external) to ensure minimum requirements, as well as key control points are implemented and adhered to establishing consistency for People Operations on a regional basis.
  • Support the Compliance and Controllership strategy across the LATAM organization, including but not limited to implementation of tools and business continuity planning ensuring seamless service
  • Responsible for the maintenance and development of SOP

Qualifications/ Requirements
  • Solid experience in People Ops role – knowledge in ADP and Workday
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in managing relationships in matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization (Portuguese / Spanish is desired)
  • Knowledge of Employment Tax Compliance issues, including all regulatory compliance environments with ability to assist, research and analyze implications for laws, cases and treaties.
  • Communication and cross-functional project leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in matrixed environment and with diverse disciplines.
  • Tenacity to progress and conclude enquiries/information requests internally.
  • Team oriented.
  • Open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or ability to work in ambiguous situations.
