The team you will be a part of
The Product Design team designs, validates and brings new products to market.; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. Collaborates with internal partners to optimize designs for manufacturability. Uses CAD/CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
This role in summary
As a regional design leader (site lead), you will be responsible for representing the Design function on a regional basis by creating the right connections with the global design leadership, regional business unit executive Presidents, your stakeholders in other regions, the regional marketing team and the global platform leaders and planners.
Within the studio, you will be accountable for managing the multidisciplinary regional creative design team giving them guidance, energy and direction across multiple projects through every stage to deliver outstanding work; from immersion to implementation, maintaining a high level of craft and executing the creative vision of projects along the design process. Projects will be both regional and some global in nature.
You will build, nurture, and engage a creative and leadership oriented culture within the Brazil Design Studio. This will include working on a daily basis structuring the right capabilities in the region by integrating industrial design, interaction, usability, Color Finish and Materials (CMF), and perceived quality disciplines delivering complete design packages to programs. Fostering this culture will be your responsibility as you recruit, develop, train and retain a world-class design staff.
As Sr. Manager Brazil Studio, you will be part of a global organization and be responsible for planning and coordinating the resources in order to enable the design direction and best practices of Design groups. You will be the key regional Strategic leader on Brand Design and Platform Innovation. Through a strong process partner relationships you will ensure smooth running of projects while maintaining the design intent and achieving the perceived quality targets. Understanding of the Business of Design and how to help the team create balanced design solutions will be needed to effectively lead this studio.

Your responsibilities will include
- Develop a sense of belonging and collaboration within the studio;
- Guide other designers and give effective design critique and direction;
- Exemplify design leadership behaviors and practices for effective teaming;
- Create compelling stakeholder relationships;
- Understanding the business in the region and influencing regional plans for product success;
- Encourages cutting edge creativity, and motivates your teams to go beyond current trends;
- Champion Visual Brand Strategies and Govern their execution;
- Continually seek and identify process improvements across the global Design organization;
- Write Project charters that identify scope and impact of proposed design programs;
- Oversee regional and category design work;
- Work to develop staffing plans, supervise performance and calibrate talent pools across Category Teams;
- Manage designers and their career development through effective coaching and mentoring;
- Support Design Org and Strategies with global coordination of the category and initiatives;
- Plan and maintain budgets for development spend and travel with Design Operations team;
- Set direction through excellent analysis and coordination of all design discipline strategies;
- Model Whirlpool core values of respect, integrity, diversity and teamwork.
Minimum requirements
- Excellent leadership qualities;
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills;
- Excellent Design sensibilities across physical and digital design products;
- Strong project planning skills, including proposals, work breakdown schedules, resource planning, and project reviews;
- Experience planning and executing ID work in accordance with accepted product development processes, e.g., phases and gates;
- Demonstrated skill applying industrial design practices, e.g., concept definition, development, refinement and delivery;
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills;
- Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and managing multiple projects;
- Strong desire to work collaboratively with others;
- 10 years of industry experience leading Product Design teams.
