The Accountant will support the Comptroller & Vice President of Finance in managing the financial operations of our organization. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting the strategic objectives of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in the automotive industry considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
General Ledger: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded.
Internal Controls: Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and functioning properly to safeguard company assets.
Compliance: Support compliance with all relevant local, provincial, and federal financial regulations, including tax filings.
Inventory Management: Collaborate with sales and inventory teams to monitor and manage vehicle inventory, ensuring accurate costing and reporting.
Audit Support: Prepare documentation and reports for internal and external audits.
Financial Analysis: Assist in the preparation of financial analysis to identify trends and variances to support the organization’s strategic objectives.
Financial System Management: Assist in the management and maintenance of financial systems and software.
Special Projects: Assist with special projects as assigned by the Comptroller or other senior management.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration Degree.
Professional Designation: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), or other relevant designation. Candidates who are actively pursuing their designation will also be considered.
Experience: 3-5 years of accounting and/or finance experience.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and data management.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with team members at all levels.
Integrity: Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
