Assistant Controller

Job #4744– Excellent opportunity to join one of Ottawa’s most successful and well-established organizations as their Assistant Controller on a full-time, permanent basis! Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate will have a solid accounting foundation and strong analytical abilities. As a key member of the finance department, you will be tasked with supporting the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and a proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. This position comes with advancement opportunities and a competitive pension plan after just one year! Main responsibilities include:

Assist in the preparation of financial statements, monthly/yearly closings, including analyzing and reconciling general ledgers
Provide support to the Financial Controller and direction to other team members to ensure bank reconciliations and general administrative tasks are done accurately
Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reports for senior management when needed
Post journal entries for accrued expenses and revenue
Maintain and update all records for fixed assets inventory
Prepare supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with external auditors as necessary
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in accounting and/or finance required
Minimum 3-4 years of progressive work experience in accounting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

What’s the Bottom Line:

$80,000 – $90,000 annual salary
3 weeks’ vacation plus 2-week Christmas closure!
