Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Shopify Development to lead our development department. This role will be instrumental in managing and expanding our team, improving systems and processes, and driving technological advancements to enhance efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing engineering teams, driving direction and accountability, and a passion for staying up to date with new tech.

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Shopify Development to lead our development department. This role will be instrumental in managing and expanding our team, improving systems and processes, and driving technological advancements to enhance efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing engineering teams, driving direction and accountability, and a passion for staying up to date with new tech.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a development and quality assurance team of 8-10+ developers across North America and Europe.
- Manage capacity and resource allocation to ensure optimal team performance and project delivery.
- Define and drive the vision and direction of the development/delivery department.
- Develop and improve systems and processes to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
- Build on development and QA practices to deliver the best-in-class experiences to our customers.
- Oversee development operations to continually improve team processes and QC.
- Identify and integrate new technologies to streamline operations and drive innovation.
- Work with the Head of Project Management and CRO to improve capacity planning for new and existing projects.
- Experience building headless storefronts
- Collaborate with other departments to align technological initiatives with overall business goals.
- Support North American operations and prepare for future expansion into other regions.
- Mentor and develop team leads, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Ensure effective delegation and management of tasks within the team.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing development teams.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling development teams.
- Excellent capacity management and resource allocation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to improve systems and processes for enhanced efficiency.
- Proficient in identifying and integrating new technologies to drive innovation.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively across different time zones.
- Experience with integrating complex third-party systems, such as ERP, CRM, or custom APIs.
- A strong understanding of UX / UI design principles and how to implement them in an ecommerce context.
- Ability to leverage analytics and data to drive technical decisions and improve site performance and conversion rates. This includes familiarity with CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) techniques.
- Experience working closely with sales teams to align technological capabilities with business goals.
- Extensive experience with the Shopify ecosystem, Liquid, CSS, Java Script ES6, Shopify's APIs, Shopify CLI, Shopify’s Checkout Extensibility and Functions Git Hub and Git.
- Experience with Shopify’s Account Extensibility, front-end Java Script library’s (Vue / React), Shopify’s Hydrogen & Oxygen and Node.js, AWS.
- Work closely with department leaders to resolve client issues around escalations pertinent to development work.
- Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders and ensure client satisfaction.
