Working for the Department
The Department of Physiology is dedicated to exploring the intricate workings of living systems through studying the biological and chemical processes governing their functions. Physiology links other biomedical sciences with experimental and clinical medicine.
Position
The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for performing projects involving electrophysiological and Ca2+ imaging from spinal cords of mice.
Duties
- Maintains transgenic mouse colony: responsible for animal husbandry, checking for pups, and genotyping.

Responsible for experiments investigating the development of spinal motor circuitry. This will include (but not limited to):
- Immunohistochemical staining, taking images, and microscope/camera.
- Electrophysiological recording from spinal neurons.
- Imaging activity in real-time in the spinal cord.
- Collection and analysis of data.
- Preparation of Figures and assisting with writing manuscripts.
- Minimum Ph D.
- Experience with immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, and imaging/advanced microscopy in mammalian animal models.
