What we are looking for:
The CPOE Professional Practice Leader (PPL) will provide leadership in the development, integration, and optimization of the Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) system. This role ensures that the system supports safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care, while aligning with clinical workflows. Key responsibilities include project leadership, clinical workflow integration, education, and ongoing support. Relationship management across interprofessional teams is a critical skill and accountability.
Reporting to the Manager of Professional Practice, the CPOE PPL will engage stakeholders in the planning, design and implementation of the CPOE system, working to meet regulatory standards and clinical needs. Leadership, collaboration, and a continuous improvement mindset are essential as the PPL works closely with stakeholders to provide exceptional user support, resolve system issues, and optimize clinical workflows. Through participation on committees, working groups and project team, the CPOE PPL collaborates with others to support process improvement and mandated initiatives related to the project, focusing on system optimization, uptake of best practices, and adoption of CPOE both from a provider and end user perspective. The CPOE PPL will serve as a liaison between providers, clinicians, operations leadership and professional practice to facilitate a common understanding of CPOE best practices across interprofessional teams. The CPOE PPL will be responsible for active participation in and/or leading relevant committees.
What you bring to the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health discipline; a Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Health Informatics, Nursing, Health Administration) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hospital-based clinical experience, with a focus on clinical practice and leadership.
  • Recent experience with clinical informatics, ideally including MEDITECH Expanse or similar CPOE systems.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills and experience working with clinical applications in a hospital setting.
  • Excellent understanding of clinical, technical, and integration requirements for implementing health information systems like CPOE.
  • Experience providing consultative services for application systems and managing positive relationships with clinicians, IT teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant healthcare legislation, practice standards, and best practice guidelines.
  • Proven experience teaching and supporting clinical staff in the use of electronic clinical applications, with demonstrated leadership, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to combine clinical expertise with system knowledge to deliver effective education and support on CPOE initiatives.
  • Uses leadership, facilitation, persuasion, and negotiation skills to build consensus, resolve conflict, and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated organizational, research, data analysis, and time management skills, particularly in managing competing priorities and ensuring project deliverables in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to function both independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team.
  • Strong understanding of data and clinical information and how they are operationalized within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to support patient care and clinical decision-making.
  • Experience providing guidance and support to clinical users of electronic systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in patient care.
  • Ability to take initiative, demonstrate critical thinking, and identify opportunities for improvement in CPOE workflows.
  • A results-oriented attitude focused on continuous process improvement, efficiency, and supporting overall clinical and organizational success.
  • Demonstrated history of good attendance and performance, with the ability to maintain high standards.
  • Commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe work environment for yourself and others by adhering to hospital policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices, as well as completing required mandatory education.
Work Schedule:

Mon to Fri 7.5 hour days.
