Job Description:
We are looking for a Safety and Environmental Coordinator interested in joining the SPS Safety and Environmental Team!
The Safety and Environmental Coordinator plays a crucial role within SPS in maintaining the well-being of employees and the sustainability of SPS processes. Responsible for complying with H&S regulations, implementing sustainability practices, and identifying and mitigating potential risks. Guides Associates, Supervisors, and Managers on HS&E matters as needed.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop procedural documents and review in accordance with OHS program.

• Support any MOL visits and follow recommendations to completion.

• Participate in risk assessments and provide appropriate recommendations.

• Conduct safety audits (plant safety protocols and PPE requirements meet compliance)

• Respond to safety-related and non-compliance issues/concerns.

• Identify and present opportunities for health and safety improvement.

• Support the H&S department with special projects as assigned

• Follow, participate, and make recommendations regarding safety and environmental.

• Coordinate/follow up with operations on environmental actions (e.g. energy and waste reduction).

• Oversee environmental sampling programs and complete associated reporting in accordance with Ontario’s Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA’s)

• Compile environmental metrics to support regulatory reporting and corporate reporting.

• Develop and deliver environmental/regulatory training programs for operations including the EMG policies, Emergency Response Plans, Environmental Awareness, etc.

• Routinely engage with plant personnel to promote awareness, verify regulatory compliance, and seek opportunities to minimize risk and improve environmental performance.

• All other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements:

• College or University diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline or, post-secondary and or vocational program training specific to ASQ quality, CQE, CQIA.

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental Roles.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

• Advanced knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001

• Advanced process auditing skills

• Advanced Computer experience in MS Office suite specifically Outlook, Excel, MS Word, and Power Point

• Ability to train others.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• Preferred experience in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment
