About the role

Nu Chem Sciences is a growing company looking for candidates to fill a Scientist position for our Bioscience department. The candidates will be working from our facilities in Saint-Laurent, Montreal. Nu Chem provides a variety of preclinical services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry helping them in their drug discovery and development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and perform in vitro &/or cell-based assays for compound screening and mechanism action studies;
• Maintain mammalian cell culture according to the project need;
• Design, plan and execute experiments under supervision;
• Perform data analysis;
• Trouble shooting under supervision;
• Maintain excellent documentation for lab books; write study reports and make presentations and; communicate results to the team and clients if needed;
• Share responsibilities with other team member to support daily lab operations of Cell Biology Group;
• Collaborate with other team members to meet project timelines and targets.

Requirements

• Ph D in Biological Sciences or MSc with at least 5 years of experience;
• Experience with mammalian cell culture is required;
• Experience with microplate assays, such as HTRF, Alphalisa, MSD, ELISA, reporter assay, cell proliferation assays;
• Experience with high-capacity in vitro and/or cell-based assays using multichannel pipets and with automation using robotic liquid handlersis an asset.
• Knowledge in high content imaging assays and analysis;
• Experience with DNA/RNA extraction, Western blot, Capillary electrophoresis and PCR based analysis;
• Good level of autonomy at designing experiment and critical analysis of results;
• Familiar with Microsoft office tools (Word, Power Point, Excel) and Graphpad Prism data analysis software;
• Should be able to perform literature searches and display a broad knowledge of common methods in Cell Biology;
• Should be able to prepare presentation, write study report and interact with the team;
• Good understanding of goals and objectives, timeframe of a contract research project;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point);
• Bilingual (French and English). A good level of written and verbal English is required to communicate effectively with our English-speaking clients outside of Quebec.
