commonsku
Senior Full-Stack Developer
Toronto
FULL TIME
November 18, 2024
commonsku is changing the way businesses within the $26 Billion promotional products space work. We are the leading platform for promo product distributors–combining CRM, Order Management, and e Commerce into one sophisticated hub that allows them to run their business seamlessly.
But, we don't just sell software; we believe in helping our customers build better businesses. Through collaboration, connection, and our skummunity (commonsku+community, get it?), we are elevating our customers and the world of branded merchandise. We are thought and brand leaders, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in promo.
Our culture and values
Our values – Community First, Ten Steps Ahead, Fast Forward, and Delightful Work – drive us to create an exceptional experience for our customers, our partners, our industry, and our team.
We believe in the power of a team of nice people who are great at what they do. It’s pretty simple, really! We love creativity, a great sense of humour, enthusiasm, collaboration, risk-taking, optimism, and diverse opinions.
We are remote-first and maintain our headquarters in Toronto, ON. Our team spans across Canada and into the US. We gather together in Toronto twice a year, so no matter where we live, we get to spend time together to collaborate, learn, and celebrate! (It’s the best!)
And we’re growing! We’re looking for our next:
Senior Full-Stack Developer
As a Senior Full-Stack Developer on our Development team, you will help build and improve the commonsku platform to make it faster, easier, and more delightful to use for our customers. Working on a small, dedicated team, you will have the chance to not only write code, but collaborate with your peers on better ways of doing things going forward.
This role is perfect for someone who loves to solve problems, get deep into a product, and create long-term solutions (not just quick fixes!), while collaborating with other smart, passionate professionals.
You’ll work on:
- Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code for all aspects of our platform
- Developing responsive and user-friendly web applications
- Implementing user interface components and integrate with back-end services, ensuring high performance and optimization
- Designing and developing server-side logic and databases for web applications; integrating front-end elements with server-side logic
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance APIs
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality solutions
- Participating in code reviews to maintain code quality and share constructive feedback with team members
- Creating accurate, easy-to-understand documentation
- Mentoring junior team members, supporting their growth and development through feedback, advice, and guidance
- Providing technical support to our Customer Success team, investigating issues and developing bug fixes and solutions
- Developing and maintaining a strong infrastructure to support consistent experience for customers
With the experience we think will help you succeed:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant field
- 6+ years of experience in a full-stack development role, ideally in a B2B Saa S environment
- Experience operating in an Agile environment
- Experience writing code for integrations and APIs
- A track record of creative thinking with an eye toward scalable solutions
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A continuous learning mindset
- A bias toward collaboration, team work, and mentorship
-
Experience with:
- PHP, Python, JS
- Django or Symfony (similar MVC/MVT framework), Node, Express, React
- My SQL
- Web protocols and standards (SSL, OAuth2, etc)
- Software version control systems (GIT)
- No SQL
- containerization (Docker)
- AWS
- Automation (Chef/Puppet, Ansible, Cloudformation etc.)
- Serverless (API Gateway, Lambda)
Compensation, Benefits, and Work Environment:
- This role is open to candidates based in and legally eligible to work in Canada. We are open to candidates in other parts of Canada, with the exception of Quebec (we love the province, we are not currently in a position to employ folks there!). Candidates in the GTA are preferred.
- We believe in paying fairly and being proactive about ensuring our team is rewarded for growth and innovation. The starting compensation range for this role is $135,000 to $150,000 per year, with the initial salary offered based on candidate experience and skill set.
- We offer benefits coverage for employees, a group RRSP plan with employer contributions, annual office closure between December 25 and January 1, parental leave top-up, and a flexible work environment that supports individuals, families, and people of diverse needs. Oh and super cool merch!
Interested? Excellent!
