Position Summary

As a part of the Scheduling and Systems team, the Student Information System Specialist is a super user of the college’s student information system and is key to providing capacity for development and ongoing maintenance of the system. This position assists with identifying and documenting business processes and working within the SIS to develop and test solutions to support those processes.

This position works cooperatively with Registrar’s Office staff, academic departments, ITS, Finance, and other key stakeholders on student system projects including implementation of a new SIS with features and integrations to determine business/user needs and engages stakeholder groups for feedback, testing, and deployment, in addition to:

• Work with SIS vendor/ITS to better understand functionality within the new SIS to ensure optimal usage of system and to leverage features
• Undertake testing of new functions in the student information system based on business needs; documents outcomes of testing undertaken and makes recommendations based on these results
• Review release notes for new student information system versions, identifying opportunities/challenges and recommends options based on these
• Develop and maintain testing scripts
• Validate test results and issues identified by end users

Qualifications

• Two (2) to four (4) years’ relevant experience, with expert knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS) and other integrated applications
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Solid understanding of business practices and policies within Registrar offices in the Canadian post-secondary context
• Demonstrated organizational skills and strategic thinking abilities
