Donald's Fine Foods is a specialty meat procurement, processing and distribution company providing quality meat products and services to customers in British Columbia, Western Canada and around the world. This family owned company is built around the core values of customer focus, integrity, people, quality, and safety.
We currently operate three food processing facilities in British Columbia and one facility in Saskatchewan. We are expanding into Edmonton, Alberta this year and further investing and expanding our operations in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan with another meat processing facility scheduled to open later this year.
Donald’s Fine Foods is searching for a Vice President of Sales who will report directly to the CEO. The ideal person for this role has built and led a sizable sales organization consisting of inside and outside direct sales talent in multiple channels and has tactically pursued markets in both Canada and the US. The candidate must have experience managing a sales and marketing team in the retail food or food-manufacturing industry. This individual will contribute to corporate strategy as a valued member of the senior executive team.
The Role
  • Manages the overall sales and of the company’s products and services.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales strategies, methods, costs and results.
  • Develop the business plan for the sales and marketing department.
  • Establish short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, best practices, and operating procedures.
  • Ensures consistent and profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning.
  • Develop specific plans and KPIs to ensure revenue growth and margin growth in each product category, within major accounts and different market segments.
  • Trains, develops and manages sales and marketing team.
  • Oversee the overall staffing requirements and ensure the sales and marketing departments have proper onboarding and training in place.
  • Conduct annual and regular performance reviews for direct reports to ensure continuous growth and development.
  • Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short-term, long-term sales and overall earnings.
  • Has a thorough understanding of products, services, capabilities, customers and current markets.
  • Oversee the development and management of internal operating budgets.

Key Criteria/Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years experience effectively managing a sales and marketing team.
  • Experience in the retail food or food-manufacturing industry, food industry professionals only.
  • Meat industry experience is a highly valued asset.
  • Perishable foods or consumer packaged goods experience an asset
  • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent with a focus on sales and marketing.
  • Entrepreneurial with an aptitude to think outside the box.
  • Open minded with the ability to focus on the bigger picture.
  • Great communicator with strong negotiation, presentation and persuasion skills.
  • Excellent communication both written and spoken.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, ability to inspire and lead a sales and marketing department.
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented.
  • Ability to think both strategically and analytically at a high-level.
  • Demonstrated best practices in recruitment and selection of top performers.
  • A willingness to travel up to 5% of time as needed across Canada, and 40% travel locally.
