Amix Steel and Surplus is seeking an energetic yard worker to join the team. Located in Chilliwack BC, Amix Steel and Surplus is a wholesale steel supplier to the construction, mining and fabrication sector. Servicing customers across Western Canada, Amix Steel and Surplus prides itself on quality products, great customer service and the ability to find the product you need at a competitive price.
Amix Steel and Surplus is looking for a professional and personable yard labourer to join our team in Chilliwack. The ideal candidate would be a strong independent worker that has strong communication skills, a valid driver’s license, a high level of motivation, and a willingness to work outside. Forklift experience is ideal, but not mandatory. As this is a front-line member of our customer service team, a respectful and positive attitude is a must. This position will report directly to the Yard Foreman.
Responsibilities:

• Packing structural steel into bundles.
• Operating forklift to load and unload materials (qualifications preferred)
• Handle freight and freight documents.
• Accurately count material for order fulfillments, and complete all required paperwork.
• Perform pre-trip and maintenance checks on machinery.
• Using bandsaw/torch to cut steel products to size.
• Work collaboratively and respectfully with yard Foreman and Sales staff.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Experience in the industry is an asset
• Must be able to perform physical job duties which will include being required to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Understanding of how and the ability to use a tape measure.
• Organizational and Time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure.
