Our Sourcing team partners with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the development of our medicines and vaccines. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

The position of Associate Director of Research and Development Sourcing and Procurement is responsible for all Procurement activities in support of the Clinical Trial Specialty Services required for Clinical Development. Functions requiring strategic procurement support include but are not limited to the China and Headquarters Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO)

The Associate Director will take an active leadership role in the development of procurement strategy, global category management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management and supplier value management within this category.

The Associate will be responsible for managing categories with a high degree of complexity and will be responsible for ensuring that all sourcing strategies are compliant and follow Global Procurement’s Sourcing Management Process (SMP).

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

• Supplier and Supply Market Analysis - to evaluate suppliers and supply markets based on facts and data to provide deep and meaningful insight to Sourcing Management teams

• Contract Negotiation, Execution and Management - Reviews and negotiates contract terms and conditions both with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and finance. Prepare contract documents for internal review, approval, and signature in collaboration with the Research & Development Sourcing & Procurement team; Ensure contracts are filed to the appropriate systems and tracked internally

• Sourcing - to assist in creating and executing RFIs (request for information), RFPs (request for proposal), RFQs (request for quote) together with structured information analysis to inform procurement strategy development and decision-making.

• Diversity - Actively supports diversity and economic inclusion, both within company as well as expanding relationships and spend with Diverse Suppliers.

• Budget Negotiation - to support negotiations with suppliers based on detailed analysis of internal business requirements, supplier costs, and external benchmarks.

• Stakeholder Support - to provide support for budgetary and contractual decisions/actions as part of a cross-functional team. Appropriately escalate issues and concerns to procurement management and other functional areas such as legal, privacy, compliance, etc.

• Supplier Performance Management - to monitor, report, manage, and continuously improve supplier performance as part of a cross-functional team.

• Category Team Membership – to be an active member of a category team to influence the development and optimization of ongoing supplier and sourcing strategies.

• Best Practice Sharing – to generate work of a world class quality that is shared and transferred to colleagues throughout procurement.

Compliance to internal processes – routing of documents, maintaining documentation
