About the role:
Uses desk research and available data and own network and insights to identify and solicit topical content and prospective contributors. The Content Acquisition Specialist will oversee the strategic direction of special content in an assigned subject area and develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of ideas and ongoing projects, by working closely with Deputy Editors, Editors in Chief, Publishers, and other Content Acquisition Specialists internally and with external editors and top researchers in the area. This role is fundamental to ensuring and driving content growth within the respective portfolios.
Additionally, the Content Acquisition Specialist also:

• Increases journal visibility through social media (such as We Chat) promotion, conference activities (mainly in China), virtual events, and webinars

• May track and escalate other journal-related performance issues (ethic issues, Guest Editor performance)

The Content Acquisition Specialist will build on strategy and initiatives developed by the team lead, Publishers, or Ei Cs to generate ideas for special issues and search for and invite Guest Editors and/or authors. They will have a good knowledge of the subject and community within their subject area of expertise but with the ability to expand to other areas.

• Invites and commissions content
• Builds and maintains a strong pipeline of prospective contributors.
• Depending on the program may maintain contact with Guest Editors throughout the process.
• SI Process management and engagement including SI guidelines.
• Build and maintain a strong network with new and existing journal editorial connections and top researchers from key organizations in a subject area to engage them as guest editors.
• Oversee the strategic direction of special content within a portfolio of journals in a subject area to reach agreed targets.
• Commission and oversee special content in a subject area through various channels and methods. Gather intel and provide data analysis required to solicit special content ideas.
• Work closely with the research community globally to ensure special content that best fits the journal portfolios in a subject area.
• The strategic acquisition of content from important markets, for example, TA7 countries, as directed.
• Increase journal portfolio special content visibility through online and offline channels.
• Represent the journal portfolio at events/conferences in a subject area.
• Attend conferences, and participate in workshops depending on the needs of the program.
• Establish a close collaboration with the editorial teams globally to keep them informed of Special content initiatives and seek their input and feedback as needed.
Monitor the effectiveness of all interventions through regular recording in systems and tracking of meaningful KPIs.
