Textile Development Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for a Textile Development Engineer to join our Fabrics R&D Team. In this role, you will work with global cross functional team and Asia Pacific textile manufacturers to drive new textile and laminate fabric development from concept through commercialization.
This role will be located in our facility in Shenzhen, China.

This role will be located in our facility in Shenzhen, China.
Responsibilities:

Partner with textile vendors, global and local product development teams to develop high performance textiles
-
Explore textile innovation from existing supply chain and textile industry to drive innovative textile development
-
Understand existing vendors’ capability and identify the right partner for textile feasibility study, develop prototypes, troubleshoot technical issues, establish and align textile specifications

Identify unique textile innovation and patent opportunities to support the enterprise IP processes
-
Work with cross functional teams to develop and validate internal lamination processes, assess final laminate performance, and establish specifications
- Apply disciplined project practices to prioritize, execute and document the work

Bachelor or advanced degree, major in textile related areas fields with minimum of 7 years solid work experience on new textile development and synthetic fibers (recycled & virgin nylon, polyester, sustainable textiles etc)

In–depth knowledge of fiber & yarn, weaving & knitting, dyeing & finishing, inspection

Good project management skills including ability to communicate with cross-functional teams, multi-task, prioritize and deliver result

Self-motivated and self-directed, comfortable working in a rapid paced environment

Excellent communication in both English and Mandarin (Written and Verbal)
- Ability to identify technical uncertainties, propose resolving hypothesis and build plans to verify

Ability to travel in Asia up to 10%

Experience in coordinating multiple vendors and developing strong relationship with them

Experience in Statistical tools, example of Do E, validation etc
