What this job involves
We are currently seeking a dynamic individual for the role of HSSE & Program Coordinator to join our EHS team:
- Location: Cityzen park, El Avión, Heredia, Belén.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Work model: Hybrid, 3 times a week at the office.
- Contract Type: Indefinite-term.
Job Purpose:
This role will HSE support Central America countries and program coordination assistance for LATAM, directing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the HSE management systems. The HSE Coordinator is accountable to provide guidance, identify the resources and equipment necessary to implement HSE management systems and compliance programs related to scope of service. The employee must support internal areas and accounts about HSE issues, evaluate potential hazardous situations, conduct accident investigations and environmental tests, and ensure the company is compliant with all HSE regulatory and corporate requirements. As program coordinator the employee will perform the implementation of the standard documentation, procedures, communications from JLL platforms, as well as supporting HSE Latam to keep track of the compliance and KPIs through the region.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive HSSE programs and initiatives that comply with regulatory and corporate requirements and promote employee participation and accountability.
- Implement, align, maintain, and improve the HSSE Management System to meet local requirements, corporate and ISO 45001 & 14001 standards., as well as participate in the Safety Committee.
- Develop programs, procedures, related to the HSSE Management System.
- Continually review, evaluate, and update regulatory requirements related to environmental, health and safety to determine application to current operations.
- Support and/or coordinate the completion of workplace hazard identification and risk analysis and risk control.
- Conduct inspections and audits to measure effectiveness of HSSE programs and compliance with policies and regulations and corporate requirements.
- Ensure effective contractor safety programs are in place across the region, including pre-selection of vendors and effective on-boarding for contractors to maintain compliance with the company and local HSSE standards.
- Identify and deliver HSSE corporate and legal training requirements. Ensure proper documentation of training.
- Develop, track and report HSSE metrics and measure performance against key risk indicators to enable the firm to assess program effectiveness and deliver continuous improvement.
- Conduct or participate in accident/incident investigations, root-cause analysis, recordkeeping, and follow-up. Make recommendations for prevention based on results of investigations.
- Keep track of HSSE Management system including records and communications with the stakeholders.
- Support in emergency preparedness and response management.
- Provide support in the implementation of HSSE requirements in new accounts.
- Support in issuing communications (including bulletins, newsletters, Yammer information, reports of HSSE LATAM, among others).
- Lead the translation of communications, standards and procedures based on HSE.
- Standardize, manage, and keep updated the information in HSE LATAM Share Point.
- Support for the monitoring of the metrics, KPIs of HSE of the region. Including recordable TRIR, DART, among others. Elaborate Management monthly reports and to be aligned and shared respectively.
Requirements:
- Required Degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, engineering, or related field.
- Must have Occupational Health and safety accreditation and be able to act as a legal officer
- Minimum 3 years management experience within HSE/risk prevention in Costa Rica or and other countries.
- Required medium/advance English level.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Practical experience of problem solving HSE issues in a dynamic/diverse environment.
- Required experience of investigating incidents and reporting objectively.
- Some travel could be required.
