What we're looking for
Our new Content Engineering team is seeking a seasoned software engineer who is passionate about solving complex, challenging problems and can work with their primary team in Costa Rica and other peers across North America. We manage the technology powering our website, content creation, and localization tools for multiple products, and we work with cross-functional partners to grow our business and expand our international presence.
If you have a proven track record in frontend technologies, expertise in building and supporting frameworks, and a passion for building large-scale sites, we invite you to be a key collaborator in shaping the future of our frontend stack.
What you'll be working on
- Help grow Survey Monkey by optimizing our SEO and international presence, improving the content authoring and management experience along with localization tools, and expanding our design system
- Create technical specs, write readable code, monitor post-release metrics, and present technology demos
- Work with product owners on feature sets that impact platforms, services, and frameworks
- Be a key player in cross-team technical initiatives and own the technical aspects of software architecture and development
- Perform design and development of modular packages, components, and frameworks
- Write robust and testable code, define APIs, build automation tools, troubleshoot issues, and perform code reviews
- 8+ years of professional experience shipping production-quality code
- Good command of web standards, accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, libraries, frameworks, and design systems
- In-depth, hands-on knowledge of modern Java Script and build tools (e.g., Node.js, React, Webpack, Storybook, CSS in JS)
- Experience putting Java Script on a diet and familiarity with performance enhancement technologies such as Memcache, Redis, Varnish, or fragment caching
- Familiarity with at least one major backend language and corresponding frameworks (PHP/Laravel, Python/Pyramid, etc.)
- Passion for promoting best practices and engineering standards to the team, leading the adoption of new technologies, and mentoring junior developers
- Strong interest in doing code reviews, writing tech specs, collaborating within and across teams, and troubleshooting issues
- Ability to communicate written and orally in English at the B2+ level
This opportunity is hybrid and requires you to work from the Survey Monkey office in Heredia 3 days per week.
