DETAILED ROLE DESCRIPTION:

As a Head of Software Engineering (Czech Republic) you co-design, implement and scale the engineering ecosystem in the Czech Republic across technology, process, and people. You work closely with and report to the Chief Software Engineer ensuring information technology services delivery supporting the business requirements.

• Co-design system-level architecture across internal and client implementations.
• Co-develop highly scalable distributed software systems integrating technologies across data engineering, data modelling, machine learning, analytics, and insight serving/visualization.
• Orchestrate the software engineering effort within the Prague team. Plan and prioritize projects.
• Co-develop quality assurance and data protection processes.
• Work collaboratively to ensure team and company standards are followed and the team is consistently focused on continuous improvements and sustained delivery.
• Be passionate about technology and spearhead technology innovation in the firm.
• Track, analyse, and monitor software engineering performance metrics.
• Provide thought leadership, innovation, and outlook on software engineering topics.
• Bring predictability & visibility of the team’s/individuals’ delivery and utilization to all relevant stakeholders. Co-design, track and analyse appropriate metrics and reports.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the software engineering team in Prague. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, data-based decisions, and continuous improvement. Take responsibility for performance monitoring, technical development, and career management of your team members.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• A master’s degree in computer science with record of academic excellence.
• At least 8 years of experience in software development and delivery of secure, highly scalable data intensive software applications with microservice architecture. Must have at least 3-4 years of experience in leading development teams.
• A strong command over the technology ecosystem with the ability to learn, prototype, integrate and scale modern technologies.
• Great project management skills, ability to lead multiple engineering projects and deliver high quality outcomes on time.
• A problem-solving and analytical mindset with a proven track record of solving complex client problems.
• Experience in building and maintaining software and data pipelines deployed in one of the big 3 cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience building data lakes, data warehouses, automated ETL pipelines using big data cloud technologies and open-source tools.
• Experience with data architecture and modelling, especially on No SQL document and graph databases.
• Experience in setting up CI/CD processes (preferably Azure Dev Ops).
• Experience with development, deployment, and monitoring of containerised microservices on Kubernetes.
• Experience with deployment and monitoring of machine learning models.
• Hands-on programming skills in .NET and python ecosystems. Ability to write clean, scalable, maintainable code. Has good understanding of software engineering concepts and patterns. Adherence to SOLID principles.
• Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results.
