Orbex is looking for an experienced AM (Additive Manufacturing) Operator and Application Engineer to work as part of our team developing and manufacturing our 3D printed rocket engine and turbomachinery.

The Position

We are looking for an AM Operator and Application Engineer responsible for programming and operating the AM machine, building optimal support structures and working with our design and propulsion engineers to ensure that our designs are optimal for AM.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience operating metal AM machines, ideally with experience in Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS, SLM, LPBF)

• Comfortable operating and maintaining an AM machine, data preparation, building optimal support structures and working with engineers to consult on design considerations

• Experience working with AM in a regulated industry such as Aerospace, Formula 1, medical devices, energy etc

• Experience with Materialise Magic and Solid Works

Desirable experience and traits:

• Solid experience and knowledge in metallography, including high performance nickel based alloys, aluminium and copper chromium zirconium

• Experience with Design for AM (Df AM) as well as DFM/DFA in general
• Experience with Amphyon and ANSYS for AM

• Knowledge within metrology and quality management processes (QA, QC) in manufacturing

Location – Copenhagen

Our roles need to be on-site in Denmark due to the nature of the position, export controls and security. This role is based in Copenhagen at Orbex’s Danish propulsion engineering and manufacturing site.
