DSB
CBTC Safety Engineer – Securing the S-network of the future
Taastrup
November 4, 2024
We are looking for a CBTC Safety Engineer to ensure that changes to the signaling system maintain the high level of safety and obtain the necessary approvals. You will work closely with project teams and approval bodies to ensure the safe implementation of the proposed changes.
Welcome to the CBTC Project Team
In the coming years, DSB will upgrade the S-bane network with new rolling stock and infrastructural changes to create a driverless railway. This will increase frequency, capacity, and flexibility. Our existing Communication-Based Train Control Signaling System (CBTC) is being modified to support driverless operation.
The CBTC project is part of the Future S-network program (FS) and is responsible for specifying, procuring, securing, and introducing the changes in the signaling system. This is done through a step-by-step migration while the existing operation continues.
Our dynamic and international project team consists of around a dozen people and is set to grow to support the project's delivery phase.
In the Future S-network program, you will join around 200 colleagues, who are enthusiastic about creating the future of public transportation in Greater Copenhagen.
“In our team, we combine job satisfaction with professional development. We value open feedback and support each other in improving our skills,"
- says Safety & Approval Manager Alexander.
About the Job
Safety is a key feature of DSB, and you will have an important role in ensuring that changes in the signaling system maintain the current high level of safety.
You will be involved in the preparation of safety plans, safety analysis and safety cases that are necessary to get the changes approved by the relevant assessment and approval bodies.
You will assist the CBTC Project Safety Manager in providing the safety analysis and approval workstream. With training, you will grow more and more into the role and develop to take on even more responsibility within the safety area.
Your primary tasks will include
Prepare and maintain safety plans and analyses
Prepare safety cases and submissions in accordance with legislation and approval frameworks
Ensure that all proposed changes to the signaling system are properly documented and analysed
Collaborate with project teams and assessment/approval bodies to obtain necessary approvals within the required timeframes
A typical workday
A typical workday begins with reviewing the latest updates from the project team and ensuring that all relevant safety data is properly documented.
After lunch, you prepare a safety analysis for a proposed change in the signaling system.
After this, you have a meeting with an approval body to review the necessary documentation and ensure that all requirements are met.
Before you go home, you follow up on ongoing safety cases and prepare the next steps in the approval process.
Who are you?
We are looking for a person who likes to work with railway engineering and is motivated to develop in the field.
To fit into the role, you should have
A bachelor's degree in engineering or at least five years of experience in railway engineering
Experience or interest in railways
The ability to work effectively both individually and in teams
Competence in English
Competence in or willingness to learn Danish
What can DSB offer?
Some of our employee benefits are
Free transport with DSB
Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home a few days a week
Training in DSB's own gym and Pure Gym
Pension and health insurance
Lunch scheme and the opportunity to buy food to take home.
