Terma A/S
IT Support Specialist, Helpdesk & Support, IT
August 13, 2024
Therefore, we are currently looking for an IT support specialist to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.
Our IT department, consisting of 50 employees, supports around 2,000 users across three Danish locations in Lystrup, Grenaa, and Søborg, as well as our international locations. For our Grenaa location, we are urgently seeking a new employee to assist our staff with PC administration and minor network troubleshooting. You will be part of a smaller team in Grenaa, so we expect you to work independently and thrive with significant responsibility. For the right person, there are excellent opportunities to expand your area of responsibility.
Team and role
In this position, you will play a crucial role in our Grenaa location as part of a smaller IT team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure, focusing primarily on PC administration and resolving minor network issues. Given the size of the team, your ability to work independently is essential, as is your capacity to handle significant responsibility.
Your role will also involve close collaboration with colleagues across our various locations, ensuring consistent and reliable IT support. As you grow into the role, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and expand your influence within the team.
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Support Specialist at our Grenaa location, your main tasks will include:
- PC Support: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PCs to ensure they run smoothly for all users.
- Network Troubleshooting: Fix minor network issues to keep everyone connected, especially within our Cisco SDA environment.
- Software Management: Deploy and manage software across the organization, using VB scripting to automate processes.
- Printer and Device Support: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain printers and other peripheral devices.
- Active Directory (AD) Administration: Manage user accounts and permissions within Active Directory to ensure secure access.
- Incident Resolution: Be the first point of contact for IT issues, resolving them quickly or escalating when necessary.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues at other locations, communicating technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Documentation: Keep clear records of IT processes and solutions, contributing to our knowledge base.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on IT trends and suggest improvements to enhance our IT systems and processes.
- Relevant Education: You hold a relevant IT education, such as an IT Supporter, Data Technician, or a related qualification. Your educational background has provided you with a strong foundation in IT systems and support methodologies.
- PC Administration and Troubleshooting: You have hands-on experience in managing and administering PCs, including hardware and software maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades. You are comfortable handling a wide range of issues, from basic software installations to complex technical problems.
- Software Installation and Management: You have a proven track record of installing, configuring, and managing software applications across various platforms. You are familiar with standard installation procedures, licensing, and the deployment of software across multiple devices.
- Printer Administration and Troubleshooting: You possess practical experience in managing and troubleshooting printer issues. This includes setting up network printers, handling driver issues, and ensuring seamless printer operations within a corporate environment.
- Experience in Development/Production Environments: Experience working in IT installations within development or production companies is a plus. This exposure has equipped you with the ability to support IT infrastructures in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
- Active Directory (AD) User Administration: You have experience managing user accounts and permissions within Active Directory. This includes creating, modifying, and troubleshooting user profiles, managing group policies, and ensuring secure access to company resources.
- VB Scripting for Software Deployment: You are proficient in using VB scripting for automating software deployment processes. This skill allows you to streamline installations, updates, and configurations, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the organization.
- Network Troubleshooting (Cisco SDA): You have a solid understanding of network fundamentals and are experienced in troubleshooting network issues, particularly within a Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA) environment. Your knowledge helps maintain network integrity and connectivity across various locations.
- Structured Problem-Solving Approach: You approach tasks and problems in a methodical and organized manner. Your ability to break down complex issues into manageable parts ensures efficient and effective resolutions.
- Responsibility and Customer Focus: You take ownership of your work and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility. You understand the importance of aligning IT solutions with customer needs, which drives your commitment to delivering high-quality support.
- Independent Work Ethic: You thrive in situations where you can work independently, making decisions and managing tasks without requiring constant supervision. Your autonomy allows you to excel in a smaller team environment.
- Communication and Collaboration Skills: You possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to clearly convey technical information to non-technical colleagues. Your collaborative nature helps build strong working relationships and bridges the gap between IT and other departments.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: You recognize the importance of thorough documentation and contribute actively to maintaining and expanding the organization's knowledge base. Your attention to detail ensures that processes and solutions are well-documented for future reference.
