Server Solution Specialist - Infrastructure & Operations

Demant is on a continuous journey to modernize and secure our IT Infrastructure, and we need an experienced Server Solution Specialist for our Datacenter Solutions team in Global IT.

Demant is a global company with more than 23,000 employees globally, all using our IT solutions. Within Global IT in Demant you will have more than 700 colleagues globally. As Server Solution Specialist you will join the Datacenter Solutions team consisting of 10 people located in the Infrastructure & Operations department. Infrastructure and Operations consists of 140 people and is spread across the globe, with main hubs in Denmark, Poland, Malaysia, USA and Australia.
There are at any given time exciting and diverse projects ongoing in the Server area. Spanning from building big traditional virtualization clusters to bleeding edge solutions for our R&D, there’s a big variety of tasks to dig into. Aside from datacenter centric work, there’s also a lot of participation in M&A activities during acquisitions and integrations. We’re a growing company, and you will be a key part of enabling and supporting that growth.
To sum up, you can look forward to the responsibilities below:
- Lifecycle management of on-premise server hardware, HPE One View, ILO, and other server related solutions, including planning and procurement for Demant +50 sites worldwide. Demant operates 95% of its server workloads from on-premise datacenters and virtualization clusters, and while we’re on a slow journey towards Xaa S in several areas, on-premise workload provisioning will still be the predominant part for many years.
- Designing and implementing secure and cost-efficient server platform solutions for VMWare, SQL, VDI etc.
- Support and contribute to projects and initiatives, both on-premise and Xaa S.
- Monitor external and internal datacenter facility providers and oversee their operation.
- Ensure policies, standards and configurations are up to date and compliant with our Infrastructure Management System based on ISO 27001.
- Occasionally participate in Operations tasks, e.g., Incident Management.
To succeed in this position, it´s important that you have several years of experience from an IT Infrastructure environment. Currently you may be working as a specialist or consultant. It is important that you have experience with different technologies within the server area from a larger/international company. Maybe you have been working as a hands-on server administrator, have experience as a solution architect or similar.
- Server Hardware, preferably HPE
- VMWare products, especially v Sphere and v Center
- HP ONE View or other server management/monitoring
- Physical data center facilities (power, cooling, fire protection, etc.)
…and it will be beneficial if you have experience with Azure or other public cloud Xaa S technologies and some of the other stuff we’re using; Citrix, Linux, SAN/NAS storage, as well as knowing Power Shell or other scripting/automation tools.
