Terma A/S
Software Engineers (java) for the Combat & Self Protection Team in Søborg
August 6, 2024
Do you have a clear thirst for knowledge, which only a complex work within Multi Domain Systems (MDS) can satisfy?
What about your own development … do you want to be challenged and mentored to grow, and use your (untapped) potential even more?
If at least two “Yes” – please read on and get in touch :)
The job description
As a java software engineer in the Combat & Self Protection team, you will collect and refine knowledge, partake ownership in design and architecture, as well as being an important sparring partner for colleagues in and outside your team.
With your right hand you will be working with java, using, and promoting object-oriented best practices and design patterns like SOLID – while you juggle large multi-threaded systems, in a growing extend of distributed components with your left hand (or vice versa).
Your responsibilities will cover:
- Translate customer needs, system enablers, and stubborn bugs, into great code.
- Cover the code (partly) with unit tests and refactor code to make it more testable.
- Challenge and be challenged by system engineers and team testers (and other specialists).
-
Try your code in a staging environment emulating our customers setup.
- Potentially visiting our customers and help them test our software on the vessels.
- Be one of our experts when planning new projects with customers and colleagues.
You will be in a growing area in the R&D MDS organization of 150+ highly engaged colleagues, an area of great focus and importance in Terma.
What is our company like?
We are an international company representing world class expertise, delivering complex and high-tech products. We value our colleagues and our meaningful contributions to securing people through advanced technology.
Our company culture is autonomous and engaging, and we acknowledge the importance of flexibility in a great working environment. On our different locations, we offer various social activities to bring all of our colleagues together.
In all: Terma is on an inspiring journey, where we grow in abilities, complexities, and size – and we hope you would like to be a part of this journey with professional and personal growth as a gratifying key element.
How to succeed in this position?
We expect you to have:
- Experience with software development through the steps of high-level requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification.
- An understanding of modern design principles, parallel programming, and proper thread handling/synchronization.
- Practiced code reviews and knowledge sharing with fellow engineers, in a mindset of Continuous Integration / Delivery and trunk-based development.
We cannot promise a fixed career path yet, and we are not in any urgency as we want to know you much better, and you to know your options better – but we will support you in building knowledge and technical ownership and plan the next steps together with you!
What is this Jedi team? *)
We fast-track the growth of some developers in a specialized team, including the software architects, and with a bit of humor we call them ‘Jedi Masters’ and ‘Jedi Knights’ … you might be a Jedi too?
What we hope to find in you?
We expect you to be full of passion, one who actively follows through on your tasks, and not shunned by a complex and highly specialized environment – instead, please show us that you can challenge our technical solutions with ways to improve them.
You want to support the team, have fun doing so, and take pride in communicating actively and acting proactively towards your teammates and stakeholders. You are structured and well-articulated in writing and speaking, as a minimum in English, preferable also in Danish.
