Sr. Child Safeguarding Specialist
Purpose of the Job
The Sr. Child Safeguarding Specialist is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of child Safeguarding are applied across all programs and activities of Coptic Orphans. The role involves assessing and revamping existing policies and procedures in line with international best practices to ensure the safety and well-being of all children under the organization's care. This position will play a critical role in training staff, monitoring the implementation of safeguarding protocols, and managing incident reporting, investigations, and crisis responses related to child abuse.

The role involves assessing and revamping existing policies and procedures in line with international best practices to ensure the safety and well-being of all children under the organization's care. This position will play a critical role in training staff, monitoring the implementation of safeguarding protocols, and managing incident reporting, investigations, and crisis responses related to child abuse.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Policy Assessment and Development:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the current child safeguarding policies and procedures to identify gaps and areas of improvement.
- Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures that align with international best practices and legal requirements in Egypt and globally.
- Design and deliver training programs for organization-wide staff on child safeguarding policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms.
- Ensure continuous learning and capacity-building opportunities are available to staff to maintain high standards of child safeguarding and protection.
- Monitor the implementation of both new and existing child safeguarding policies and procedures at all levels of the organization, whether in the office or in the field.
- Conduct Regular audit and reviews of safeguarding practices to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting and responding to child safeguarding concerns and incidents.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to prevent child abuse within the organization's programs.
- Coordinate crisis response efforts, including managing cases of child abuse, conduct investigations into reported incidents of child abuse or exploitation, collaborate with legal, law enforcement, and other government authorities when necessary to address incidents.
- Report regularly on child safeguarding issues, incidents, and the effectiveness of policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant child protection laws, regulations, and international standards.
- Work with external child protection agencies, NGOs, and local authorities to enhance Coptic Orphans' safeguarding practices.
- Engage with the communities served by Coptic Orphans to build awareness and support for child Safeguarding efforts.
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, international development, or a related social science field. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of experience as a Child Safeguarding specialist in an international or local organization working in Egypt.
- Strong knowledge of international child Safeguarding standards, laws, and best practices.
- Proven track record of developing, implementing and monitoring child safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience in conducting investigations and resolving child safeguarding incidents.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs on child safeguarding policies & procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong crisis management and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse and dynamic team environment.
- A strong knowledge of the international development landscape in Egypt and ability to network and build partnerships with key stakeholders in the field.
Travel and Working requirements
- Typical office environment such as walking, sitting, typing, using office equipment, and occasional lifting of boxes or luggage during travel
- Travel throughout Egypt may reach as much as 30% of the time.
- Working out of the official hours and on weekends may be required.
