We seek an experienced and well-qualified Junior School Teacher of Arabic as a foreign language with the following background:

Previous experience in teaching Arabic as a second language in school settings.
Strong Modern Standard Arabic language skills.
Advanced English skills.
Experience of designing materials for mixed ability classes.
PGCE/ TAFL are pluses.

The successful candidate will teach Arabic across the Junior and/or Senior School.

BISC was established in 1976 and has a reputation as one of the most successful schools in the Middle East. BISC is a large school with over 1,150 students across our Foundation Stage, Junior and Senior Schools. Up to Key Stage 3, we follow the EYFS leading to the National Curriculum for England, with modifications to reflect the particular geographical and cultural circumstances of Egypt. In the Junior School, teachers receive specialist support in a variety of subjects and all classes have a bilingual Teaching Assistant to support the class teacher. With the exception of Arabic, all classes are in English, which many children speak at home, and children make excellent progress in their language development. The School takes advantage of the history, culture and geography of Egypt through a range of offsite trips and activities.
At Key Stage 4, students are prepared for GCSE and IGCSE examinations with the majority of students choosing to study the full IB Diploma. Our results are above the global average and the majority of our students go on to attend universities in the UK and USA.
