We are looking for a Trainee to join our growing International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) Team!
We offer a temporary (4 months) full-time paid position based in our central office in Helsinki. The trainee program starts in January 2025.

What does IDAS do?
IDAS in Finland has developed a niche specialist team of audit, advisory, risk management and sector specific experts who work with a global network of professionals on client engagements around the world. KPMG's IDAS network is present in over 100 countries. Our team has various professional backgrounds, nationalities, and a strong gender balance. We are an innovative, professional and continuously learning team that can help our clients working with development challenges in emerging markets. Our client work can be divided into two main areas:

• Advisory - IDAS provides a wide range of advisory services in the field of international development and climate finance for well-known clients around the world, including UN Agencies and Development Finance Institutions. The services cover strategic market assessments and research, business development support, evaluations of funding proposals, fund design and process design advisory.
• Audit and Assurance - IDAS team carries out audit, review, due diligence and capacity assessment types of assignments of donor-funded organizations, programmes and projects across the EU, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Some IDAS team members are also involved in financial statement audits for publicly listed and private sector clients. Together with other KPMG teams, we provide assurance services in sustainability, ESG and internal audit. We also conduct forensic and risk reviews and investigations in the development funding context.

As an IDAS trainee you will:

• Work with great audit and advisory professionals on international engagements.
• Work on a diverse IDAS client portfolio, including participating in various assignments that cover different sectors and thematic areas (climate finance, renewable energy, gender etc.).
• Support IDAS business development including preparing proposals.
• Gain exposure to meaningful work, seeing our impact at client, implementing partner and beneficiary levels.
• Have an opportunity to learn, develop professionally and collaborate with different KPMG teams in Finland and globally.

Do you have?

• Ambition and demonstrated interest in working with global development and climate finance in the context of emerging markets.
• Strong academic credentials, preferably from a relevant field (business, finance, accounting, sustainability, development studies etc.).
• Experience in financial management, international development or climate topics, either through work or studies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Additional languages, such as Finnish, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese or French are an advantage.
• Proactive attitude, teamwork skills, innovative ideas and eagerness to share ideas with the team.
