Project Researcher – Human Factors
We are looking for a researcher with a keen interest in human factors and human interactions through digital systems to join the Maritime Simulations Research Team at Novia University of Applied Sciences in Turku. As a valued team member, you will collaborate with an experienced research team specializing in maritime simulations, marine technology development, and remote operations. This position offers an ideal opportunity for ambitious individuals with a passion for research to contribute to shaping the future of maritime autonomous and remote operation practices and technology.
What you’ll be doing:

• Human factors and human engineering research on remote pilotage
• Exploring human elements in the planning of remote pilotage operations and user interface design.
• Participating in the research, experimentation and testing work carried out in the Remote Pilotage MVP project together with the project team

What we’re looking for:

• Individuals with a Master’s degree (or higher). Preferably with a degree in psychology or social sciences.
• Experience in human-centered design in user interfaces.
• Persons with experience in academic research.
• Full professional proficiency (written and oral) in English, Swedish, or Finnish.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

• Experience in transport sector development projects.
• Experience in the development of new, intelligent operating systems.
• Experience in the development of operational systems in safety critical domains.

Salary according to to General collective agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences and internal directives. The position includes a a probationary period of four months.
For the period 16.9.2024 – 30.6.2025 or according to the agreement. Part-time employment possible by agreement.
