The Role
As Scientist Enzyme Technology, you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment, working with cutting edge technologies and a broad portfolio of diverse projects. This is a bench-scientist position focussed on enzyme characterization. It includes the opportunity for development, and an attractive compensation package. The position is located in Darmstadt, Germany.
You will be responsible for:
  • Biochemically characterize a large variety of enzymes using a broad spectrum of analytical techniques
  • Develop new enzymatic assays to do so – from application-relevant assay to high-throughput screening
  • Work in project teams, in which you take ownership for the work that you plan and carry out
  • Document, report and present your experimental results
  • You will work in a highly interdisciplinary manner, within the Enzyme Technology team as well as with the broader global R&D and Application development teams located in Germany and in Finland
About You
  • A scientific education and degree (Bachelor or Master) in biochemistry, biotechnology or related application science, or multiple years of equivalent working experience, preferably in industry
  • Experience in enzyme lab testing, development of analytical methods and protein purification
  • Experience with industrially relevant enzyme classes
  • Passion for understanding bulk enzyme applications in industry (detergents, textiles, pulp & paper) and food (baking, protein, grain and fruit processing)
  • Experience with high-throughput screening is a plus
  • Hands-on attitude combined with a drive for results; you are a true team player
  • Continuous desire to learn and develop new skills as well as the flexibility and interest to work on enzymes for various applications
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and capabilities
  • Fluent in English; written and spoken, German is a plus
