Senior Network Engineer (m/f/d)

In Germany - Bonn | Cologne
As a Senior Network Engineer, you are primarily responsible for implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT networking infrastructure. You work on escalated service tickets, coach IT support staff, and contribute to project work. You are part of a highly motivated IT team supporting a rapidly growing global company. How you will create an impact:
  • You play an important role in advancing our hybrid-cloud network infrastructure through various projects.
  • You design, deploy, and support hybrid-cloud multi-site enterprise connectivity.
  • You serve as a subject matter expert for networking related devices and services.
  • You perform maintenance, lifecycle, and daily administration of networking systems and services.
  • You implement industry and security best practices when deploying solutions.
  • Active system and service monitoring, along with providing incident escalation response, will be part of your role.
  • You contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Regular contributions to technical and process documentation will be part of your responsibilities.
  • You keep up to date with industry knowledge of relevant technologies.
  • You serve as a mentor to less experienced IT colleagues
About you:
  • You have a Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ years of overall related experience with an enterprise networking environment (1000+ users)
  • You have extensive experience with networking technologies (e.g., VPN, WAN, SD-WAN, SASE, LAN, VLAN, WLAN)
  • You have advanced knowledge of firewall technologies and secure network infrastructure solutions.
  • You have extensive expertise of network routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
  • You have hands-on IT project management experience.
  • You have practical experience designing and configuring Azure Virtual Networks, Express Routes, VPN Gateways, etc.
  • You have experience with implementing industry best practices for networking technologies.
  • You have experience in the design, deployment, and support of complex systems.
  • You are proficient with network tools (Wire Shark, Solarwinds, Nagios, etc.)
  • As part of your skillset, you excel in problem-solving and demonstrate strong initiative, time management, and organizational skills, along with effective written and spoken communication.
  • You have the ability to document technical configurations and processes and the ability to work well independently as well as part of diverse, international team.
  • You are business fluent in English.
