Summary:
The work schedule for this position is:

Duties

The Receiving/Mailroom clerk manages the receiving, tracking, inspection, distributing, and inventory of property management services for the Department of State and associated agencies. The Mailroom Clerk portion receives, dispatches, sorts, and distributes mail from multiple sources. These include but are not limited to local and international mail, Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) mail, diplomatic pouch material, and commercial courier services. The incumbent also spends a large percentage of the time serving customers at the Mailroom service window and receiving areas. The position is in the General Services Section and under the supervision of the GSO Supply Supervisor.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:

At least 3 years of work experience in the fields of mail handling, supply and/or warehousing are required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of standard office practices.

  • Knowledge of local post offices, airport, and freight forwarding facilities as well as a local courier systems.

  • Must have good understanding of supply chain management and warehouse operations to include receiving, inspecting, tracking, storing and issuing of supplies.

  • Must have good knowledge of computerized inventory and stock control data programs.

Education Requirements:
Successful completion of high school or local equivalent is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:

English fluent, speaking, reading, writing is required, may include the ability to translate (this may be tested).


German good working knowledge speaking, reading, writing is required (this may be tested).


SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Must have user knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) (this may be tested).

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, if required.

  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds and safely move up to 250 pounds with assistance from coworkers or use of mechanical devices. Maximum lift requirements may be subject to local regulations.

  • Working knowledge of inventory management tools such as handheld scanners and software is required.

  • Class B driver’s license is required.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
