An exciting opportunity has risen for an outstanding Senior Accountant to join our RCG finance and accounting team at our office in the centre of Athens.


About the role
To be successful in the role you should have extensive experience in overseeing all activities of accounting and tax accounting as well as maintenance of internal controls.


The key role and responsibilities of a Senior Accountant is to ensure completeness and accuracy of the general ledger of the companies assigned to you, including monthly closing of books and annual statutory reporting, keeping the books in an audit ready mode and compliance with local legislation and internal policies. You will have a good understanding of the processes feeding into the General Ledger accounting. The position will require interaction with cross functional teams and reporting to the Finance Director.


Main Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate accounting bookings including General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, VAT and tax reporting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Maintain supporting schedules or documentation associated with closing journal entries.
• Be part of the monthly closing process and perform reconciliations for all General Ledgers accounts.
• Prepare and review financial statements.
• Ensure deadlines are monitored and met.
• Prepare or obtain account reconciliations so that all balance sheet positions are supported monthly.
• Ensure intercompany transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
• Maintaining internal controls procedures.
• Supporting in the internal and external statutory and tax audits by providing necessary information and reports ensuring the prompt completion of the annual financial statement audit and tax certificate
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve financial efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Cash flow monitoring and cash reporting
• New agreements review on tax/accounting matters.

Relevant skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting from an accredited college or university. MSc or MBA is considered as an asset.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a similar role preferable in big four
• Solid knowledge with Greek and IFRS accounting and tax legislation and good understanding of external audit, internal controls, and reporting procedure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
• Precise, accurate, organized, and structured mind set.
• Capable of prioritizing tasks and working under pressure.
• Advanced PC skills in Excel.
• Very good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Analytical thinking and critical ability.
• Teamwork mentality and ability to work independently
