At interworks.cloud, we are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic R&D Team Lead to oversee and drive the successful delivery of a service integration module of our R&D cloud product, ensuring that the team consistently meets quality, efficiency, and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership and people management skills to foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and continuous improvement. This role requires balancing hands-on problem-solving with strategic oversight, managing a cross-functional team, and collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization.


This position is ideal for a candidate who has transitioned from a software development role or has experience in technical product or project management. Your focus will be both on technical execution and the growth and engagement of the team.

Your role & responsibilities


Product Delivery and Execution

• Oversee the team's backlog, ensuring clarity and transparency for R&D and non-R&D members and alignment with business priorities.
• Collaborate with the R&D Strategist to Implement a data-driven approach by maintaining metrics and implementing new ones to track and improve team performance (e.g., delivery time, quality standards, team health).
• Foster a culture of working with defined versions and deadlines, ensuring the team adheres to delivery timelines without sacrificing product quality.
• Identify and proactively manage risks to delivery, team morale, or product quality, addressing potential issues before they escalate.

People Management & Development

• Ensure the team has the appropriate mix of skills, resources, and processes to meet both current and future needs, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
• Predict personnel needs based on project demands and proactively manage the scaling of the team to meet future organizational goals.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
• Actively mentor and guide team members, conducting regular performance reviews, setting clear goals, and facilitating their career development.
• Conduct 1-1 meetings to address performance, motivation, and career development, ensuring high engagement levels.

R&D Collaboration

• Serve as the primary communication point between your team and other departments, ensuring alignment on goals, deliverables, and expectations.
• Drive team alignment through transparent backlog management, regular team meetings, and clear documentation of tasks, decisions, and action items.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to ensure that R&D projects align with broader business objectives.
• Address inter-team challenges and conflicts promptly, facilitating resolutions that promote productivity and alignment.

Optimization & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with the R&D Strategist to continually innovate and refine your team’s estimation and planning processes, ensuring greater predictability and stakeholder trust.
• Drive team optimization initiatives, identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Ensure timely adjustments in resources, processes, or support structures to meet project timelines while balancing team workload and preventing burnout.

Our ideal candidate

• Technical Leadership
  Strong understanding of R&D processes, product development lifecycles, and how to manage technical backlogs, versioning, and deadlines.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making
  The ability to navigate and solve complex issues under pressure while ensuring that commitments are met.
• People Management
  Proven skills in scaling teams, aligning their skills with organizational needs, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and transparency.
• Risk Management
  Experience with proactively identifying risks and managing resources to mitigate them while keeping team morale high.
• Education
  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with Microsoft products, especially in integration projects, is highly desirable.
