Compliance Associate

What the day will look like
This role will support the Head of Compliance Hong Kong & Macau in the following matters:
- Support HK and Macau compliance in handling compliance matters
- Prepare and conduct compliance Trainings
- Monitor ongoing regulatory changes, prepare and update compliance policies
- Proposed/New regulations – assess impact of new consultation papers, facilitate implementation of new regulations with business to ensure compliance
- Reporting – Monthly Compliance reporting, and any other regulatory submission (Insurance Authority, MPFA, SFC, Macau regulator etc)
- Third party reviews, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring
- E&O – investigate potential misconduct of regulated staff, support regular E&O meetings
- Handle compliance queries from regulatory authorities, business stakeholders, external and internal audits;
- Undertake initiatives as may be required by LCO, HK and Asia L&C team from time to time.
- Assist in coordinating compliance projects and provide administrative support e.g. arrange meetings, conduct initial research and analysis, prepare paperwork
- AML/CFT - Review escalated cases with adverse findings from Bridger, update of policy and training for employees.
- Handle regulatory reporting and licensing related matters
- For growth opportunity, the individual will be given exposure on third parties operational support in the greater China region
- 2 years legal/compliance/internal audit experience
- Experience within the insurance/financial services industry preferred
- Ability to support and manage compliance projects and tasks independently
- Ability to work as an integral part of a local and regional legal and compliance team, fostering teamwork and cultivating relationships, and take initiative where necessary
- Conscientious and good attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Critical and innovative thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills will be advantageous
- Keen interest in compliance work and willing to learn
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Good time management, organization and prioritization skills
- Good command of English and Chinese (verbal and written)
