JOB PURPOSE
St Andrew’s is a large and growing Anglican, evangelical, international church, within the Anglican Province of Hong Kong (Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui). Located on Nathan Road in the heart of Kowloon, St Andrew’s has 5 congregations in English and Putonghua.

We are seeking a Pastoral Worker in Children’s Ministry to serve at our English congregations, who will report to the Director of Children’s Ministry.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry (Kidzone + Creche)

• Prepare resources and activities as directed for the teachers and children.
• Assist the team in weekly set up for Sunday programs and pack down.
• Assist the team in the smooth operations of welcoming new comers and sign in of members.
• Teach Sunday school classes on average three Sundays a month.
• Prepare activity booklets for children when children attend church with their parents.
• Assist with smooth running of special events such as morning teas.
• Assist with stock taking and organizing resource cupboards and storerooms.

B. Weekday Playgroup (Friendship Garden Playgroup)

• Prepare crafts and assist with set up, clean up and pack down.
• Assist teacher during Playgroup.
• Build warm and loving relationships with the toddlers and parents.

C. Schools Ministry

• Prepare and teach an eight-minute talk at Thursday School assembly once a month.

D. Special Yearly Events
Participate in any special events as deemed necessary by the Director of Children’s Ministry or the Vicar.

• Assist in planning and operations of yearly special events.

General St Andrew’s staff involvement

• Build good relationships with children, parents and families joining St Andrew’s Church programs.
• Meet and communicate with the Director and other staff members of Children's Ministry team regularly.

PRE-REQUISITES
The successful applicant will be a committed evangelical Christian, who is faithful to the gospel, a team player who adopts a servant-hearted leadership style, pastorally warm, hardworking, and has a teachable spirit with a proven record of faithfulness to a ministry.

Essential requirements include:

• Passionate in seeing children grow in their relationship with Jesus.
• Competent in teaching the bible and leading children (age 0-10) in English in large and small group settings.
• Competent in encouraging the development of a safe and caring environment for learning.
• Competent in providing pastoral care for children.
• Attention to detail is a must.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
• Early childhood and/or theological qualifications would be an advantage.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Contract Position
Part-time position - 16 hours per calendar week
