Centre for Child and Family Science


[Appointment Period: 12-24 months]

The Centre for Child and Family Science is looking for a qualified and highly dedicated researcher to provide research support
to projects. These projects investigate the influence of cognitive, language, and math-specific skills, as well as the multiple
roles of environmental factors across the early years of childhood.

The appointee will assist in developing assessment measures, collecting data, analysing data, writing academic articles and
reports, and supervising research assistants. Also, the appointee will present findings in both academic and non-technical ways,
in both English and Chinese, so that both professionals and non-specialists, local and international, can understand the
effectiveness of the project outcomes. The appointee should have leadership qualities, and supervise research assistants and
student helpers conducting quantitative and qualitative research. Depending on the job performance of the appointee, he/she
may be given chances to write academic papers and research grants based on existing data and to do presentations at
international conferences with financial support from the Centre. The appointment period would be 1 to 2 years, depending on
the appointee’s qualifications and experience.

Applicants for Post-doctoral Fellow should have a Doctoral degree, preferably in Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related
discipline, plus several years of research experience. He/she should be able to use statistical programmes to perform advanced
analyses, such as regression, ANOVAs, growth analysis, path analysis, and SEM. He/she should also have excellent writing
skills in both Chinese and English, be research-oriented and self-motivated, and be able to accomplish tasks both independently
and collaboratively. Experience in publishing in academic journals and evaluating programme effectiveness are advantages.
Applicants for Senior Research Assistant should have a Master’s Degree in related areas and substantial research experience,
plus one-year post Master’s degree full-time working experience.
