Senior Curriculum Officer (Science) (EDB/CSD/310/24)

(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
(c) Met the language proficiency requirement of 'Level 2' results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [See Note (iv)];
(d) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [See Note (vi)];
(e) At least 10 years' relevant post-qualification [as specified in (a) and (b)] experience in teaching and/or curriculum and resource development [See Note (v)];
(f) Possess sound knowledge on the educational trends in the area of Science/Innovation and Technology (I&T)/Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Mathematics (STEAM) education and local education system;
(g) (i) Possess solid experience in teaching or curriculum development at both the primary level and secondary level in science education, coding education or artificial intelligence (AI) education; or
(ii) A higher degree (e.g. a Master's/Doctoral degree) related to curriculum development, coding education or artificial intelligence (AI) education preferred; and
(h) May be required to take a written test on the day of selection interview.
(ii) For general awareness, a locally-accredited Hong Kong bachelor's degree is at Level 5 under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF). While there are other qualifications under HKQF Level 5, for the purpose of this recruitment exercise, only bachelor's degree in the relevant subjects is acceptable. (iii) Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the major and minor subjects studied in their degree courses. Candidates possessing additional qualifications (e.g. a higher degree in a relevant subject) should include details in their applications.
(iv) Candidates' results in the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers of CRE are classified as 'Level 2', 'Level 1' or 'Fail', with 'Level 2' being the highest. Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE); or Grade 'C' or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) are accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 5 or above in English Language of the HKDSE; or Grade 'C' or above in Use of English of the HKALE; or 'C' or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level), are accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' in the UE paper of the CRE. Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test are considered as having met the English language proficiency requirement of the Curriculum Officer post. The IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period.
(v) Candidates should state the nature and relevancy of the post-qualification experience.
(vi) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for Curriculum Officer jobs in the Education Bureau. All applicants for Curriculum Officer jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment.
(vii) Candidates should be responsible, self-motivated and enthusiastic; have a fine character and integrity; be committed to serve in the education field; and be able to communicate effectively in Chinese and English.
(b) To plan, organise and conduct professional development programmes for in-service teachers as well as training courses for laboratory technicians in support of the implementation of the above curricula, as well as Innovation and Technology (I&T)/Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Mathematics (STEAM) education;
(c) To supervise and plan for the development of curriculum resources to enhance the learning and teaching of the above curricula and I&T/STEAM education;
(d) To forge partnership with government departments, tertiary institutions, relevant professional organisations on planning and organising science, I&T/STEAM related educational events;
(e) To initiate, conduct and monitor curriculum and/or pedagogical related projects to strengthen the implementation of science curricula and I&T/STEAM education;
(f) To collaborate with the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority to ensure alignment between curriculum and assessment for the curricula;
(g) To review textbooks and related resources materials; and
(h) To undertake any other duties as assigned.
(b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
(c) Other fringe benefits include medical and dental benefits and, where appropriate, housing benefits.
