EMPBindi International Association is a grassroots, hybrid social enterprise that creates pathways to build more sustainable, self-sufficient and resilient rural communities while valuing and respecting the knowledge and wisdom they already possess. It supports rural communities in achieving sustainable self-sufficiency. With a keen belief in the endless potential of rural wisdom, Bindi International forges a first-of-its-kind, women-centered, global network dedicated to sustainable development in every community where poverty exists. Designing new ways to nurture and support a journey to empowerment, one village at a time, one woman at a time. We demystify and decentralize technology and put new tools in the hands of the underserved, to spread self-sufficiency and sustainability. With a geographic focus on the Least Developed Countries, we train women worldwide as solar engineers, entrepreneurs and educators, who then return to their villages to bring light and learning to their community.
Bindi’s Communications Division
The Bindi Communications team is responsible for documenting and relaying the organization’s impact and human stories of courage and conviction drawn from a global landscape with the help of Bindi’s Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) team. The medium chosen to tell these stories is integral to reaching both urban and rural audiences and provides information and updates on environmental and social problems, potential solutions and calls to action. We use a holistic blend of traditional and modern formats to target certain demographics effectively and sensitively. Modern technology is a powerful storytelling tool. Bindi Media utilizes digital media and platforms to document and broadcast stories of (s)heroes at grassroots levels that are worthy of a wider audience. Our team consists of filmmakers, photographers and journalists that showcase our fieldwork on the world wide web. We have a following of over 150,000 subscribers who are tuned into our newsletters, crafted blogs and social media platforms frequently. Backed by several partnerships and collaborations in collective media, we have developed and featured human stories in films such as She, No Problem, and L’urgence de ralentir. Our widely acclaimed, award-winning documentaries - WATT IF and Flip the Switch have also put the spotlight on Bindi I’s solution-based action on an international stage.
JOB PROFILE
The Bindi International Project Manager Communications, India works directly with the Head of Operations and the coordination with the Global Communications Team to support the organization’s digital outlets, public relations, and overall communication strategy. The role has a special focus on documenting the results and impact of India’s programmatic milestones and supporting Fundraising and Development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Documenting and archiving photos, videos and stories from BIndi groundwork happening in India and its neighboring countries. This also includes liaising with other photographers and documentarians to collect any content they may capture during on- site visits.
● Liaise and facilitate 3rd party media teams who come to document work at Bindi International. This includes but is not limited to planning out their itineraries, scheduling and aligning the video shoots with program heads and their team, budgeting, and more
● Report directly to the Global Communications Team
● Support in the management of Bindi’s Social Media Platform (Instagram, Linked In, Facebook etc)
● Create content for bindi-international.org Website Blog and Newsletter
● Lead the troubleshooting and maintenance of Bindi’s payment gateways (Razorpay) and crowdfunding platforms (Ketto.org and/or Give India.org).
● Support the global team in fundraising and program reporting by providing branding assets (i.e. templates, logos, photos, videos, graphics, talking points and more).
● Manage internal communications output o Collaborate with the comms team to develop and implement an internal communications plan that gathers and disseminates information quarterly to staff, to keep them up to speed with news about our programs and developments in the organization.
● Become a part of the Global Communications Strategy by representing the best interests of India’s stakeholders; our partners, staff and the rural communities.
o Participate in Weekly Global Communication Meetings
o Participate in bi-weekly International Development Meetings
SKILLS
A suitable candidate for this position:
● Aspires to develop a meaningful portfolio of content like photography, videography, storytelling, web design,
● Is a keen listener, with the ability to understand the context of people from varied educational, cultural, economic and social backgrounds.
● Possesses excellent communication skills. Has fluency in spoken and written Hindi, English and a third language spoken in India.
● Proficiency in editing using programmes such as Photoshop/Light Room/Premier Pro or equivalent
● Understanding and history of success managing social media platforms and growing an audience.
● Understanding of paid media opportunities such as Facebook advertising or Google
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree required (preferably in Journalism, media studies), At least 3-4 years of experience in communication or related field in a company or NGO.
