Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist - WASH BP

Develop and maintain GIS databases to support WASH programs, ensuring comprehensive geospatial data is available for monitoring and evaluation.

Organize, manage, and update GIS data layers, including water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene promotion activities.

Ensure that the GIS system is scalable and adaptable to the needs of various projects and program areas.

Conduct geospatial analyses to support program planning, implementation, and evaluation in WASH projects.
-
Produce maps, spatial reports, and other geospatial visualizations to facilitate program reporting and decision-making.

Use GIS analysis to track program progress and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that data informs project performance reviews and outcomes.

Keep up-to-date with advancements in GIS technologies, tools, and methodologies.

Propose innovative uses of GIS and m Water to enhance monitoring, evaluation, and reporting in WASH programs.

Identify opportunities to apply new technologies and data sources (e.g., satellite imagery, drone surveys) for improved WASH program outcomes.

Support resource acquisition efforts by providing geospatial data and maps that highlight program needs, gaps, and successes to donors and partners.

Assist the proposal development team by contributing GIS-based evidence for funding applications, highlighting areas for potential intervention and resource allocation.

Engage with donors, government agencies, and partner organizations to share GIS data and analyses that support joint efforts in WASH programming.

Provide geospatial data and insights during donor reporting and reviews, ensuring that the program's impact is effectively communicated through spatial evidence.

Coordinate with external stakeholders, including universities, private sector entities, and local communities, to access additional geospatial resources and strengthen collaboration on WASH-related projects.

Keep up-to-date with advancements in GIS technologies, tools, and methodologies.

Propose innovative uses of GIS and m Water to enhance monitoring, evaluation, and reporting in WASH programs.

Identify opportunities to apply new technologies and data sources (e.g., satellite imagery, drone surveys) for improved WASH program outcomes.

Provide ongoing technical support to M&E teams and WASH field teams in using GIS and m Water tools.
-
Develop and deliver training sessions to build the capacity of staff in using geospatial data, GIS software, and m Water platforms for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Provide ongoing mentorship and support to team members to ensure proficiency in geospatial data collection, analysis, and reporting.
-
Develop user manuals, guidelines, and other training materials to facilitate the adoption of GIS and digital tools in the field.

Organize workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance the capacity of internal and external stakeholders in using GIS and geospatial data for decision-making in WASH programming.

Troubleshoot issues related to data collection, platform integration, and GIS software to minimize disruptions to field operations.

Offer technical support to WASH project teams, ensuring smooth operation of GIS systems and digital monitoring platforms such as m Water.
-
Set up and maintain m Water platforms for digital data collection and monitoring in alignment with GIS systems.
-
Integrate GIS tools with m Water for enhanced visualization and analysis of WASH data, including water quality, infrastructure, and population served.

Provide guidance on the integration of geospatial data into m Water to improve data-driven decision-making.
-
Work closely with field teams to ensure accurate and timely data collection using GIS and m Water tools.
-
Design and implement data validation procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of geospatial and non-geospatial data.
-
Train field staff on the use of GIS and m Water for data collection and provide technical support as needed.
-
Work in close collaboration with M&E, WASH field teams, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the integration of geospatial data into program operations.
-
Participate in program planning and review meetings, contributing to discussions on how geospatial data can enhance the effectiveness of WASH interventions.
-
Liaise with external partners, including government agencies and NGOs, to share geospatial data and best practices for WASH programs.

Develop and manage annual performance agreement

Submits periodical/ monthly accomplishment report

Manage all risks related to WASH BP according to organization policies, guidelines, and standard. This includes risks in fraud, safeguarding, and other related risks.

Minimum of 3 years of experience working with GIS systems and databases, preferably in WASH or humanitarian programs
-
Experience with digital data collection tools and visualisation particularly m Water, is highly desirable
-
Bahasa Indonesia
-
Good English skill with minimum TOEFL score 450.
-
Field visits may be required to support WASH teams with data collection and validation.
-
Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., Arc GIS, QGIS) and tools for geospatial data management and analysis.
-
Familiarity with m Water or other digital monitoring platforms.
-
Strong understanding of GPS technology, remote sensing, and spatial data visualization.
-
Strong data management skills, with attention to detail and data quality control.
