Job Summary
The Communications Officer will report to the (Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Services) or any other officer as designated by the Chief Executive.
Such duties include inter alia:
Roles and responsibilities of the Communications Officer:
- Organisation and management of all aspects of communications for Louth County Council, both internally and externally.
- Working closely with the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team in developing a culture of PR and media awareness in the Council.
- Establishing and leading a Louth County Council Communications Working Group comprising of representatives from across the organisation.
- Lead in the development and management of any Communications Strategy
- Co-ordinating national media campaigns such as My Council Day and working closely with the Media and Communications Team in the Local Government Management Agency.
- Media monitoring.
- Drafting and publishing of press releases and website content
- Building positive relationships with local and national media and handling media queries in a timely fashion.
- Support delivery of the Irish Language scheme.
- Developing engagement strategies to successfully complete statutory and non-statutory consultation processes. This could include organising information sessions, focus groups, webinars, online content.
- Maximising the value in the Council’s digital and online communication e.g. create promotional videos relating to the work of the Organisation or project visualisations of projects to assist with public engagements.
- Develop branding for the Council to be used across all projects e.g. logos, style guides, etc.
- The person selected will possess an in-depth knowledge and experience in the policy and strategic issues and responsibilities of a Local Authority.
