Compliance Team Leader

We are seeking a dynamic Compliance Team Leader to join our Compliance Team in Dublin.
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in embedding a culture of compliance with relevant legislation into the day-to-day operations of our business in the Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland, as well as improving compliance standards throughout the organization.
This role will also involve mentoring the team, allocating and monitoring work, and setting standards within the teamwork program.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Manage the allocation and completion of work within the Compliance team and provide regular updates to the Compliance Manager on progress.
  • Mentor Compliance team members through ongoing training and coaching.
  • Provide advice within the company on relevant legislation and Group/Company policies to ensure AXA remains compliant.
  • Engage with business units and supporting functions to fulfil ongoing obligations to the Fitness & Probity and Minimum Competency Requirements, with a focus on companywide procedures and recordkeeping.
  • Provide guidance to other areas as required based on interpretation of compliance obligations to facilitate the development of new products, marketing literature, systems, etc.
  • Manage requests for information as required under the Data Protection Acts and Code of Practice for the Insurance Industry.
  • Develop, review, and deliver appropriate training, paying particular attention to obligations from the Central Bank in conjunction with business units and support functions.
  • Develop and carry out a compliance-related action program to ensure compliance with applicable consumer-related regulations in Northern Ireland, with a special focus on the insurance conduct of business (ICOB) issued by the FCA in the UK.
  • Foster a good working relationship with AXA UK Group Compliance.
  • Actively participate in projects related to the introduction of new compliance requirements within the business, focusing on regulatory requirements and Codes of Practice issued by the Central Bank of Ireland.


Your Profile

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an insurance business environment, with at least 2 years in a compliance function and/or 2 years of team lead experience.
  • APA (Personal & Commercial) with a commitment to progress to CIP and/or equivalent insurance qualifications such as DII. Accreditation from Compliance Institute is desirable.
  • Previous exposure to compliance/regulatory matters is desirable.
  • Knowledge of all relevant regulatory requirements including Consumer Protection Code, Minimum Competency Code, Data Protection Acts, relevant applicable general legislation, and any other regulatory requirements issued by the Central Bank of Ireland or the FSA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially in influencing and challenging people at all levels in the organization to secure change of behaviour in compliance matters.
  • Well organized and capable of motivating others toward delivering key compliance objectives across the organization.
  • Excellent PC skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.
  • Enthusiastic approach with a high level of drive and energy.
  • Demonstrates a flexible work attitude and an ability to work within strict deadlines.
