Digital Editor at The Gloss.ie

GLOSS Publications, part of The Irish Times Group, is seeking a talented and dynamic Digital Editor for The Gloss.ie. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the digital evolution of Ireland's leading luxury magazine.

About GLOSS Magazine:

Launched in 2006, GLOSS Magazine has established itself as Ireland's premier glossy, large-format publication, circulating monthly alongside Ireland's authoritative broadsheet, The Irish Times. With a discerning readership that values high-quality writing and design, GLOSS Magazine offers a unique blend of fashion, interiors, and lifestyle content, alongside in-depth features on food, wine, travel, and culture. Our companion title, THE GLOSS INTERIORS, complements our main publication, both in its luxurious format and its commitment to quality content.

Position: Digital Editor - The Gloss.ie

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily management of The Gloss.ie, including uploading posts, coordinating with contributors, assigning stories, editing all pieces prior to publication, writing content, and sourcing and resizing images.
  • Collaborate with the Editor and Deputy Editor to develop a balanced and engaging content calendar each month, aimed at driving digital growth.
  • Monitor and analyse daily website analytics to track performance and ensure digital growth targets are met.
  • Create and implement digital production workflows and processes to enhance the efficiency of the editorial team and contributors.
  • Work closely with the Advertising team on commercial content, including commissioning writers, sourcing images, managing layouts and approvals, and monitoring campaign performance.
  • Lead SEO strategies for the site, optimising all posts, staying current with trending topics, and commissioning relevant content from both the in-house team and external contributors.
  • Manage the workflow and tasks of the Assistant Digital Editor.
  • Oversee the digital adaptation of print content, enhancing it for the online audience where necessary.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for affiliate shopping, monitor its performance, and provide feedback to the editorial team.
  • Produce weekly articles across fashion, lifestyle, and culture for The Gloss.ie.
  • Manage social media across all platforms, including the creation of video content.
  • Oversee newsletter and e-marketing strategies to engage and grow our audience.
  • Drive digital marketing initiatives, including Google Ads, to expand The Gloss.ie's reach.
  • Manage and facilitate GLOSS event bookings online, promote ticket sales, and provide live social media coverage at events.
  • Liaise with website maintenance, development, and support teams as required.
  • Stay informed of the latest digital trends and innovations to enhance The Gloss.ie's digital offering.
  • Assist with company events and special initiatives as needed.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues during absences and perform other digital production tasks as required by the Editor.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven editorial experience in digital publishing, print media, or a related field.
  • Strong editorial judgement and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills with meticulous attention to spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Strong communication skills, highly organised, and a collaborative team player.
  • Experience managing social media accounts across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and X.
  • Proficiency in Word Press and experience with content creation and editing (images, video, audio).
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices (Yoast) and familiarity with Google Analytics and Search Console for tracking website performance.
  • Experience managing Google Ad campaigns and affiliate shopping platforms.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the digital future of a prestigious publication and connect with a sophisticated and engaged audience.
