Job Description
Duration:
Temporary externally funded non Grant-in-Aid contract post, the indicative duration of which is 20 months , subject to contract. A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
Basic Function:
To implement Teagasc-led activities in the EU-funded Green ERA-Hub project. In particular it will involve preparation of call documents for a research funding call, monitoring and evaluation of ongoing funded research projects, collection of best practice documents and procedures from similar initiatives and the organisation of events.
Background:
The Green ERA-Hub project ( https://greenerahub.eu/ ; Grant Agreement #101056828) represents a collaboration of 29 previously and currently-active European research funding networks in the domain of agri-food and biotechnology. The overall goal of Green ERA-Hub is to launch new funding calls, to monitor currently active research projects and to undertake events and activities that bring together the different actors in the agri-food and biotechnology research ecosystem.
The Teagasc Research Support Office works across the full spectrum of research funding, from design of calls, through management and evaluation, assistance with applications, and contract negotiation. It is a dynamic and supportive team environment, with a strong focus on the career progression of staff members. Job Objectives
Planning and organising project activities, implementing Teagasc-led actions and supporting partner actions.
Managing relationships and ensuring effective communication with consortium members.
Prepare call documents for international research funding calls.
Development of indicators and questions for the monitoring and evaluation of ongoing research projects.
Collection of best practice examples from different funding networks and preparation of a report that synthesises this information.
Preparation of events (summer school, workshop etc.) for early career researchers.
Delivery of a twice-monthly online seminar series.
Contribution to communication and dissemination of the Green ERA-Hub activities.
Contribute to the overall coordination of the consortium, including the organisation of consortium meetings (this post may involve considerable travel both within Ireland and across Europe).
Liaising internally in Teagasc on operational aspects to ensure successful project implementation, such as with the Teagasc Finance Department.
To assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service Charter and Action Plan.
To actively participate in the annual business planning and Performance Management Development System (PMDS) processes.
Fully co-operate with the provisions made for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves, fellow staff and non-Teagasc staff and co-operate with management in enabling Teagasc to comply with legal obligations. This includes full compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the Safety Statement.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications
A Level 8 qualification, (as recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent ), in Science, ICT, Agriculture, Engineering, Business, Humanities or a related discipline.
A postgraduate degree and/or research experience in Science, ICT, Agriculture, Engineering, Business, Humanities would be a distinct advantage.
2 years' experience in a research environment
Skills
Excellent organisational and project management skills.
Strong communication and writing skills to include reports and presentations.
Computer literate, with proficiency in the use of MS Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Networking and influencing skills.
Ability to search for, organise, evaluate and present information relevant to a topic.
Knowledge
Understanding of project management processes and requirements.
Understanding of event organisation and facilitation.
Understanding of the European Research Area.
Behavioural Competencies
Ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility for driving project activities towards successful outcomes.
Ability to work as part of a team, including consulting, collaborating and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Eligibility
This is an open public competition. Should a current serving Teagasc staff member be successful in their application through open public competition for this post, their current contract of employment with Teagasc will come to an end on taking up this post.
