The Goat Bar & Grill in Goatstown, Dublin, is a lively and iconic destination known for its vibrant atmosphere, excellent food, and welcoming community. This well-established venue offers a range of services, from casual dining to hosting events and live music nights. With a spacious beer garden, perfect for summer evenings.
The bar serves a variety of dishes, including pub classics, hearty meals, and lighter fare, catering to diverse tastes. In addition to daily service, The Goat offers a prime spot for special events, with several function rooms available for weddings, corporate gatherings, and private parties.
As a team member at The Goat, you will be part of a dynamic environment focused on delivering excellent customer service, food quality, and memorable experiences to both locals and visitors​
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar Irish bar or restaurant.
  • Available full time
  • Fluent in English.
  • Have a good working attitude.
  • Have a valid work permit or legal status to apply for this position, and be legally permitted to work full time in Ireland.

Duties:
1. Customer Service
  • Greeting Customers: Welcoming customers as they arrive, escorting them to their tables, and providing menus.
  • Taking Orders: Listening to customers, answering questions about the menu, and taking accurate food and drink orders.
  • Order Customization: Ensuring special requests or dietary needs are communicated to the kitchen, such as allergies or preferences.
  • Menu Knowledge: Being knowledgeable about the menu, including daily specials, promotions, and ingredients to make recommendations.
2. Serving Food and Beverages
  • Delivering Orders: Bringing food and beverages to the table promptly and ensuring it matches the customer’s order.
  • Checking for Accuracy: Verifying that the food is correct and prepared according to the customer’s preferences before serving.
  • Table Maintenance: Refilling drinks, clearing empty plates, and ensuring tables remain tidy during the meal.
3. Customer Interaction and Satisfaction
  • Engaging with Customers: Checking in with customers during their meal to ensure they are satisfied with their food and service.
  • Handling Complaints: Addressing customer complaints or issues with food, drink, or service in a polite and professional manner, and escalating to management if needed.
4. Billing and Payments
  • Preparing Bills: Providing customers with their bill, ensuring accuracy, and explaining any charges or promotions.
  • Processing Payments: Handling different forms of payment, such as cash, credit cards, or gift cards, and returning the correct change when necessary.
  • Handling Tips: Receiving and managing tips from customers, often in compliance with the restaurant’s tip-sharing policies.
5. Table and Section Maintenance
  • Setting Tables: Preparing tables before customers arrive, ensuring clean tablecloths, utensils, and glasses.
  • Clearing Tables: Removing dirty dishes, cleaning and resetting tables after customers leave for the next guests.
  • Side Work: Performing side duties such as folding napkins, polishing silverware, stocking supplies, or refilling condiments.
6. Health and Safety Compliance
  • Food Safety: Following food safety regulations, such as proper handling of food and beverages, ensuring that hot and cold items are served at safe temperatures.
  • Sanitation: Keeping the dining area clean and sanitary, including wiping down tables, chairs, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Personal Hygiene: Maintaining a high level of personal hygiene and adhering to dress codes or uniform requirements.
7. Communication
  • Order Communication: Effectively communicating orders to the kitchen staff, including any special requests or allergies.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with other waitstaff, kitchen staff, and managers to ensure smooth service and address any issues.
  • Customer Feedback: Providing feedback to the kitchen or management about customer preferences or complaints.
8. Upselling and Promotion
  • Suggestive Selling: Recommending appetizers, desserts, or specialty drinks to enhance the dining experience and increase sales.
  • Promoting Specials: Informing customers about daily specials, promotions, or upcoming events to encourage participation.
9. Knowledge of Alcohol Regulations (if applicable)
  • Serving Alcohol: Checking IDs to verify legal drinking age and ensuring responsible alcohol service.
  • Alcohol Safety: Monitoring customers for signs of intoxication and following the restaurant’s alcohol policies.
10. Closing and Opening Duties
  • Opening Preparation: Setting up tables, organizing dining areas, and preparing stations before the restaurant opens.
  • Closing Duties: Completing tasks such as cleaning tables, restocking supplies, and preparing the dining room for the next day.
11. Handling Special Requests
  • Accommodating Special Needs: Helping customers with specific needs, such as seating accommodations for disabilities or special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.
  • To-Go Orders: Assisting customers with takeout or delivery orders, ensuring packaging is correct and complete.
12. Adhering to Restaurant Policies
  • Following Rules: Adhering to the restaurant’s policies on attendance, punctuality, and conduct.
  • Training and Development: Participating in any required training sessions to improve service skills and learn about new menu items or promotions.
