GIS Specialist

As a GIS Specialist, you will work with project managers and specialised engineering teams to develop, manage and maintain GIS solutions associated with ongoing transport asset management projects (roads, tunnels, light-rail, active travel and greenways). The Arc GIS environment is central to all geospatial tasks and as such, exposure to the Arc GIS platform is a necessity in this role especially Arc GIS Pro and Arc GIS Online, and including Survey123, Dashboards and Experience Builder (or other Web Mapping Applications).
This role provides a platform for a GIS Professional to provide innovative solutions to industry challenges along with the capability to expand their GIS knowledge with a company that will focus energy on your growth.
Key responsibilities include…
- Source, collate and prepare spatial datasets.
- Apply best data management principles for spatial data in Arc GIS Pro and Arc GIS Online.
- Preparation of maps and apps for in-house and field teams.
- Create and maintain geodatabases to store spatial data.
- Perform geoprocessing tasks and analysis of spatial information.
- Preparation of mobile applications to be used in conjunction with company and client GIS systems.
- Aid in the development of new systems to improve efficiencies within the company.
- Support operations team in the use of GIS-based data collection applications.
- 3+ Years experience with Arc GIS Pro and Arc GIS Online
- Basic knowledge of QGIS
- Proficient with MS Office and Outlook
- Data Management within the Arc GIS Environment (Pro/Online)
- Knowledge of multiple spatial file types (Shapefile and Feature Classes, Geo Package, Geo JSON, KML for examples)
- ETL – taking files from disparate sources and adding to geodatabases
- WGS84 (4326), ITM (2157) and IG (29902).
- Experience with Survey123
- Experience with Arc GIS Dashboards
- Experience with Experience Builder (or other Web Mapping Applications)
- Basic knowledge an application of Python programming within the Arc GIS environment (Arc Py / Arc GIS API for Python)
- Experience in any of the following sectors; transport, utilities, asset management, engineering.
- At least 3 years GIS experience
- At least 3 years of experience working with ESRI technology (Arc GIS Pro and Arc GIS Online at a minimum)
- A 3rd level qualification e.g., degree/HND or equivalent in a subject which included a significant element of GIS, engineering, data science, OR information technology.
- A thorough understanding of GIS technology platform including Arc GIS Pro and Arc GIS Online.
- Experience of Arc GIS Online Administration.
- Experience with Arc GIS Online Applications; including Experience Builder, Web App Builder, and Dashboards.
- Experience of Survey123/Collector/Field Maps.
- Experience in the design and implementation of GIS solutions using Model Builder and/or Python Scripting.
- General application of GIS technology and data.
- Cartography and map representation.
- Expertise in best current practice in data management and analysis.
- Implementation of spatial databases using geodatabase schema methods.
- Encouraging the use and integration of GIS in daily work practices.
- Skills transfer and training.

- Experience of completing tasks to achieve time, cost and quality targets.

Pay: Up to €45,000.00 per year
