We are a fast-growing modular housing manufacturer with a current headcount of almost 200 employees. As we continue our expansion plans, with a target to grow significantly in the next 12-18 months, we are seeking a proactive and experienced HR Manager to lead and manage our HR function. This role will be critical in shaping our organizational culture and ensuring the company attracts, develops, and retains the best talent in the industry.
Role Summary:
The HR Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with a strong HR generalist background, capable of supporting a growing business and implementing effective HR strategies aligned with our business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract high-quality talent.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, interviewing, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
- Build relationships with external recruitment agencies and educational institutions to establish a pipeline of talent.
2. Employee Relations:
- Act as the first point of contact for employee queries and concerns, ensuring a positive and fair workplace culture.
- Support managers and supervisors with employee relations issues, providing guidance on disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes.
- Mediate and resolve conflicts and promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
3. Training and Development:
- Develop and coordinate training programs to enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities.
- Conduct regular training needs assessments and design development plans for employees at all levels.
- Lead initiatives that promote career development, succession planning, and talent retention.
4. HR Strategy and Compliance:
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with the company’s goals and legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Manage HR metrics and provide regular reports on key areas such as staff turnover, absenteeism, and training completion rates.
5. Performance Management:
- Lead the performance management process, including goal setting, appraisals, and employee feedback.
- Coach managers to improve their people management skills and drive employee engagement and productivity.
- Develop and manage employee recognition and reward programs.
6. HR Systems and Administration:
- Maintain and manage the HR information system (HRIS) and ensure accurate employee records are kept.
- Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and other employee-related activities in collaboration with the finance team.
- Continuously review and improve HR processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Requirements:
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR generalist role, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory capacity.
- Experience within the construction or manufacturing sector is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to manage recruitment processes and handle employee relations issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with all levels of staff.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a hands-on approach.
